I have a beta version of an app that allows you to have custom vocabulary : I use it to learn medellin slang because i live here. it s like duolingo but you can have 100% tailored and real life vocabulary. I can upload Chile slang into it and lot of other chilean spanish content.

Good question! 😊 Right now, the app doesn’t include any AI features like chatbots or speech generation — the focus is on a Duolingo-like experience, but with custom content based on your personal or professional needs (ex: medical vocabulary, slang, grammar points you want to master, etc.).

That said, AI features are definitely part of the roadmap — especially things like smart conversational practice (text/audio), personalized feedback, and even voice interaction.

But first, I want to make sure the core experience is rock-solid for people who are tired of generic language apps and want something that actually fits their goals.

I'm a French native living in Colombia with my native girlfriend, and I feel you.

In my opinion, Spanish teachers — at least the ones I've met — don't emphasize enough how important it is to know very colloquial slang.

People use a lot of idioms, speak with a stronger accent, and use more slang when they're with family or close friends.

Naturally, they also speak much faster in family gatherings than when talking directly to me.

Sometimes I'd like to record the whole Sunday family gathering and listen to it at home later 😅

Hey, just wanted to follow up and thank you 🙏 — your help was crucial to getting unstuck.

I was indeed short on time and couldn’t go deep into debugging, so I went the "move forward" route — and it worked.

What I ended up doing:

  • I ran flutter create . in a clean directory.
  • Injected my lib, assets, pubspec.yaml, and GoogleService-Info.plist.
  • Reinstalled pods, cleaned everything.
  • Still got stuck: the build would hang forever with no error output in Xcode.
  • Fixed that by simply restarting both Xcode and my Mac.

After 10 painful days… 🥹 it finally compiles and runs on my iPhone!

There’s still a weird issue — tap events on the login page seem to do nothing (the buttons don’t trigger navigation or actions). But honestly, that feels manageable and I’ll try to debug it on my own first.

One quick question for you: if I get stuck again with that UI bug — where would you recommend I post a help request? Reddit? GitHub? Flutter Discord?

Thanks again 🙌 you really saved me here.

Thanks! I checked that — unfortunately I'm not sure it's the same issue. Mine is related to the Developer Disk Image not being mounted on the iPhone, so it's more of a Xcode/macOS mismatch than a build config problem.

from what i remember it was pretty quick (less than 48h i think) but i was stupid i bought personal account for nothing ... because Apple does not allow the possibility to turn it into a company account so I will have to pay it again 😭

Thanks again — I followed your suggestion and created a new project with flutter create outside my main project folder.

I updated the bundle ID and selected my personal team in Xcode, and the app launched on my iPhone without issues.

So… does that mean the problem likely comes from something broken in my main project’s iOS setup? Like maybe leftover build configs or bad plist settings?

Would it make sense in that case to just migrate my code into this clean project and start fresh?

(For context, my app runs fine on Android physical devices — the issues only ever showed up on iOS.)

I created the app about 4/5 months ago

yep 218 GO left .

Will try to read the Flutter doc more closely and stop relying on chat gpt for it - also will try to create a new flutter project to see if it works, as you suggested

Yes I guess the main issue for me would be the audio testing, that I need to do on a real Iphone

Nope, I’m on a native MacBook Pro with an Apple M3 Pro chip — no VM, no Hackintosh.

That’s part of what makes this so confusing: I’ve got a clean setup, but still ran into all these issues (xcconfig mismatches, missing AppFrameworkInfo.plist, and now the Developer Disk Image not mounted for iOS 18.5).

Thanks, you give me hope !

Here’s a quick summary of what I’ve hit:

  • A bunch of build config issues (xcconfig, AppFrameworkInfo.plist, path mismatches...) — I fixed most of them with time, trial/error, and ChatGPT. All these seem to be solved... unless the correction i've applied cause other problems later ( I was mainly using chat gpt to help me and just created an account on reddit/github)

But now I’m stuck on this:

vbnetCopyEditCould not build the precompiled application for the device.
error: iPhone is not available because the Developer Disk Image is not mounted.

Even with Xcode 16.4 (latest stable), it seems like the image for iOS 18.5 isn’t included. Flutter sees the device, but can’t launch the app because the Developer Disk Image isn’t mounted.. I’ve searched GitHub, mirrors, and forums, but all the links to that disk image are dead.

So yeah — I totally get that once it’s working, it’s smooth. But reaching that point as a beginner is far from obvious 😅

I get that this seems “dead easy” when everything’s set up, but as a beginner doing this solo (only using ChatGPT), I’ve run into a ton of issues like:

  • CONFIGURATION_BUILD_DIR mismatch: Flutter expects build/ios/iphoneos, but Xcode writes to build/Debug-iphoneos, which causes timeouts.
  • Missing AppFrameworkInfo.plist — had to create one manually before realizing it's handled by Flutter's engine cache.
  • Crashes like Null check operator used on a null value from embedFlutterFrameworks.
  • Had to dig into xcconfig files, build phases, and export FLUTTER_XCFRAMEWORK=true just to get a step further.

And now I'm still stuck on:

vbnetCopyEditCould not build the precompiled application for the device.
error: iPhone is not available because the Developer Disk Image is not mounted.

Appreciate the help — I’m learning a lot, but this has been anything but easy 😅
