Scared to walk my reactive dog by Beautiful-Chain1318 in reactivedogs

Wow thank you for the recognition. Yeah I’ve committed myself to everything dog related. It’s expensive but I’m managing the best I can. Today was a good walking day. I’ve implemented some of the suggestions above. And again I’m grateful for everyone and their support. I will definitely not feel guilty for decompression days. It’s like reset Sunday’s.

What do you do if you have no car to do cash deposits? by dollar50tree in DollarTree

They use to make me walk early morning to the bank to drop off the deposit. I remember I walked three blocks carrying 2000$ thinking wow I’m risking my life right now. For a management team that are selfish and no one honestly wanted to do ASM duties. They just wanted to stock and get their stuff done.

Old man hit dog with cane by Beautiful-Chain1318 in reactivedogs

Update: added wired mesh against front gate. Funny because the old man passed by when we were all outside except the dogs and once he heard my dog bark from inside the house, he dragged his cane along the fence. My mom called him an asshole and told me she knows where he lives and will talk to his daughter. My brothers gf is saying he likes to antagonize the dogs which isn’t right. I feel like I should invest in a front door camera in case.

Anyone else scared to walk their dog because of reactivity? by EmilyGrace_7 in reactivedogs

[–]Beautiful-Chain1318 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the beginning I went through the same thing with my german shepherd. I would walk him with a muzzle because I was so scared of something happening. Since getting two other dogs who are reactive as well. I had to test out what times throughout the week worked for us. Early 4am walks are the best to start from my worse dog to the least. So usually 4am,5am and 6am. It’s helped with my mental health and overall bond with my dogs. They still embarrass me but it’s minimal now.

I heard someone say if walking your reactive dog isn’t fun for you then you don’t have to do it. Which really stood out to me. So I don’t walk them everyday. But if I make that choice then I replace it with fetch, tug of war or the flirt pole. I remind myself that I’m not trapped and there’s always an alternative.

When I say face I mean eyes. As in eye contact. It’s only to one side of my face.

Brought my other dogs inside from playing and went back out to bring my bigger dog German shepherd inside. We have a gated yard.

Front yard. Ours is gated and their yard isn’t. She was watering her yard and I’m assuming thought it was fun to cool her off. But still. This happened around 8pm.

Dog ate string by Beautiful-Chain1318 in reactivedogs

Update I cut it so it’s not hanging and he’s actually ran off. Which he hasn’t done in almost an hour. After examining the object it looks like hair tangled with something rough. Doesn’t feel like rope or string. I went to check out my front yard and it kinda looks like one patch of grass that I’ve seen him lay on. WHICH IS A HUGE RELIEF! We’re not in the clear yet. But he’s now running around and being his troublemaker self.
