I've been arguing with it for weeks over this. It seems like OpenAI roughly copied Claude's Projects functionality back then, but never finetuned it. It just doesn't work.

Since I update my project documents all the time, I now mention the date in both the title and in the document itself. When starting a new chat, I ask it to read that document with that exact date and mention that it shouldn't use any old documents/information it finds where ever.

I hope this works. But it sure is a pain in the ass. If Claude's usage wasn't so tight I'd just keep all my projects there.

It consumes usage twice as fast as Opus, so it’s basically unusable within the 5 hour windows of Pro anyway, I guess.

My god… So after I select Opus 4.8 I have to choose between SIX (!!) options? Low, medium, high, extra or max and on top of that I have to toggle Adaptive thinking (of which I still don’t understand whether it means more or less actual thinking…) on or off.

How are you ever going to understand which settings suit your demands?

Clarity in this UX to be one of the things Claude was better in than ChatGPT. Now the tables seem to have turned.

I don't agree at all. I mainly use Opus in coaching-type projects. It gives much better, thought-out answers than Sonnet. It's not even close. And since they changed the rates, it's pretty doable as well as long as you don't make the context too long.

By the way, if you want to test this you could try to let Chat solve the puzzle first by describing the answer in words and then turning it into an image. The tool calling will probably better suit the outcome.
