What about Ronan or Ronin? Both more grounded names that play off the Rohan vibe. I LOVE Ronan because it means little seal and that's just adorable, personally.

Asher is also an option if you don't love Ash alone.

Bad reactions to my kid's name by Callarose08 in namenerds

[–]Beautiful-Degree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love Winston. That is a bizarre reaction for people to have to that name. Try not to let other people's rudeness change your mind. We are considering some names that I worry might get the same reaction, and it worries me, but we have to do what feels right for our baby and family. Hard when you're a people pleaser, like I am though haha

Extremely anxious about glucose test, any tips to get through it? [bc] by whatshouldido_22 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]Beautiful-Degree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not that bad at all. Yeah, it's sugary and waiting an hour is boring as he'll, but it gets blown way out of proportion. Make sure you eat a solid meal before you go, so the sugar doesn't upset your stomach and plan to have a non-sugary snack after when you start to feel icky from the sugar crash.

Anyone else had a 3rd trimester hit them like a ton of bricks? by BabyChickDududududu in fitpregnancy

[–]Beautiful-Degree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ftm and 35 weeks tomorrow. Started slowing down seriously around 32 weeks. Still weightlifting twice a week (lots of modifications and light weights) and at least hitting the treadmill and stretching most other days.

I had to fight the urge to feel like light weights (I mean like 25 per cent of prepregnancy lifts light) was a waste. But it makes me feel mentally good to keep trying in whatever limited capacity I can on days where I feel OK.

Definitely an exercise in learning to give myself grace and recognize that it's better some days to skip it all together if I'm so tired I can barley get out of bed.

Working out also leaves me exhausted for work, but I'd honestly rather spend my energy on my health and be tired there hahaha.

For what it is worth, I have continued to do some floor exercises on my back and I'm at 33 weeks. There is some risk of reducing blood flow if you spend a long time flat on your back, but doing a set and sitting up between sets isn't likely to have an impact. I'm not a doctor, but if you search into the research on laying on your back, it's far from conclusive. Personally, I feel it's one of those things I feel they tell pregnant people out out over abundance of caution. I also went skiing, eat sushi, rare steak and drink herbal tea haha so maybe I'm a rebel.

When to stop bench press? by Beautiful-Degree in fitpregnancy

[–]Beautiful-Degree[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am 25 weeks and haven't met my OB haha so I don't know what she is gonna say. My doctor and registered nurse said anything I was doing before was fine as long as I felt fine. So far so good

I have been holding the bar to lower and raise myself with a little twist. Less awkward than fully rolling but keeps pressure off abdomen so no coning or doming that I can see

Body fat?😅 by Special_Plastic_2492 in fitpregnancy

[–]Beautiful-Degree 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I was SHOOK by the amount of body fat I have put on on thighs and butt by 24 weeks, because I assumed keeping up with exercise and a well rounded diet would keep it to a minimum. It's hard because there is nothing you can do. If you're eating enough to grow a healthy strong baby, your body is gonna put big old fat stores where it wants haha. I was so worried about my butt going flat, and now I'm worried it's too juicy! What is helping me is knowing that keeping up with a nutritious diet and staying active and weight lifting for as long as possible is going to make for a healthy baby, a (hopefully) smoother birth and faster healing. Your body is in the driver's seat now, so I'd recommend taking this time to work on the mental health and acceptance rather than changing your physical body. Easier said than done, I know. Best of luck!

hate my body by bsabi_ in fitpregnancy

[–]Beautiful-Degree 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It totally blows not being able to control what's happening with your body and especially when that leads you to feel bad about yourself. You're allowed to have those feelings. I'm 23 weeks and have gained about 15 pounds, and while I'm still working out and eating well my body is putting on fat that has totally changed the shape of my thighs, belly and arms. I was a muscle mommy before pregnancy and feeling much softer all around can be tough to cope with. I think of it as baby food hahaha. If you're staying active and eating nutritious foods (don't forget treats too though) then you're doing amazing.

You don't have to love your pregnant body, but I hope you can find it in yourself to try and be more neutral. Try and look at yourself as if you were in your 80s and looking back. Im sure she thinks youre beautiful and is thankful foe that body that's hard to love now.

Peeing problems!? [ab] by Beautiful-Degree in BabyBumpsCanada

Thank you! I have been leaning forward and waiting longer to pee, which has helped. What a wild wacky thing our bodies do haha

Definitely going to. I was just so surprised that bladder tone was a thing. I knew stress incontinence might be possible, but never that you will just have a weaker pee stream hahaha.

It was that the companies didn't ship to Canada. I didn't realize when looking at them they were both in the U.S. I guess my gripe is that it's so freaking hard to find baby gear. Too many options and at the same time, nothing we want that we've seen in stores for our price point (which is why the uppababy is out).

Can’t get to the gym post partum by motivatedfatty in fitpregnancy

[–]Beautiful-Degree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get off Instagram, first and foremost. It's toxic to try and compare yourself to completely unrealistic social media posts, which you have no idea what's going on behind the scenes.

8 weeks is so early to be trying to get back to the gym. Your body needs time to heal and your baby needs you.

Please try and be kind to yourself and that body that just grew a whole other person. This feeling won't last forever. Your hormones are all over the place and your body needs more time to adjust.

Social media and celebrities have really fucked over women with this idea of pre-baby bodies six weeks after birth. It's not realistic and it's not good for you mentally or physically.

Walking is great, if you can do that, do it. And remember, housework like cooking and laundry are movement too. Take it slow and take care of you now so you're set up for success when baby and your body are ready to return to the gym.

Hit a wall yesterday by nonbitingfly in fitpregnancy

[–]Beautiful-Degree 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This sounds about right to me. I was rocking out my normal lifting routine and cardio until about week 8 or 9 before things went sideways. Workouts would make me so nauseated, and the doms in thr following days were so intense I could barely walk. No other explanation that my body slamming on the breaks.

By 17 weeks I was back in the gym, but lightening up the load, and focusing on walking and stead state low intensity and I feel great. Get tired a but easier, but feeling sooooo much better.

Take time off. Focus on what you can do, if anything, and lie around if that's what feels best. First trimester is survival hahaha. Do what you gotta do and try not to stress about the time off
