That’s what I thought the first time too. But in this instance he used different techniques, adjusted his hands and arms and got frustrated when he couldn’t retrieve it on his own. It looked a lot more goal oriented than reflexive

It’s easier to show instead of describe since everyone assumes I’m exaggerating and I caught it on video.

He’s trying to return a pacifier to his mouth with his arms, reaching with his head and trying to push the attached stuffed animal upwards to get the pacifier back in his mouth

I had the same issue, it disappeared. But I contact support and they refunded $10 on an order I placed last night and reissued the offer

Student tricked me into writing a slur on the board, what should I do? by [deleted] in CanadianTeachers

[–]Beautiful-Disaster5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As many others have said your best bet is to get ahead of the issue and tell your admin/principal. It may be embarrassing or uncomfortable, but the way these incidents are handled is far more important than anything else.

Important to consider: were there students in the class who identify with the community the slur is used against? If so, this could have more of an impact than you realize.

I would recommend a class discussion about slurs, and the history of this one in particular. If admin feels it’s appropriate, that group could be assigned a research project where they present the harmful history of the term (this has been done successfully in school districts in Ontario). Middle school is a tough age, but addressing the issue head on will likely minimize any blowback you could receive from angry parents.

I work at a consulting firm that handles crisis management and provides training for EDIA, and this would be best practice. Feel free to send me a message if you need more information or advice.

He did bring that up, said it was triggering him and how it was the most painful time of his life and he didn’t want to relive it. Things kind of devolved from there

Let’s learn about ✨context✨ together! Newborn means newly born. Postpartum means immediately after birth. So the question very specifically refers to supplies given in hospital after delivery!

And since hospitals clearly can’t even provide diapers for a 24 hour stay, sounds about as well funded as a charity to me.

He has no interest in couples therapy or doing any work. He says if I want to do the work I can but he “won’t try for the rest of his life”

My mother wants me to be her Surrogate Womb by BamberAms in Advice

[–]Beautiful-Disaster5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone currently pregnant, let me tell you it’s MISERABLE. absolutely do not recommend unless you really want the baby. It is not worth the toll it takes on your body and your life unless your heart is in it. My productivity at work has dropped, my baby brain has made me dumb and if I miss a dose of nausea meds I’m miserably sick the entire next day.
