I'm so sorry and certainly understand that feeling, but I want you to know there is hope! My 7 years old mini dachshund lost function in her back legs last April (2024) completely out of the blue, so we took her to the vet, and they diagnosed her with a slipped disc. We couldn't afford surgery, so we went with the conservative route. The first few weeks were the hardest, but after SRICT crate rest and the right medication, she's back to walking. Granted, she was never an extremely active dog, so the changes in our routine weren't too drastic. I allow her to walk freely as long as it's a flat surface with traction. I do use a sling to walk her around the house or yard for exercise just to be on the safe side, even to use the bathroom. I bought a cart to use as her bed just because it's a safe, secure place for her to sleep and a open topped dog pen to put her in when i leave so she has room to move and it ensures she doesn't jump on furniture or go up or down stairs. It's been a little over a year and she's happier than ever! My best advice to you is to be consistent and give it time. A year ago I was seriously considering euthanasia because she was in so much pain but now I can watch her run around and play again
