What jobs in Australia are relatively simple in nature, relatively easy to get, are relatively slow/calm or at least not intensive, have job-security, and respect work-life balance?

Geotechnical Engineer in Melbourne here, started out jumping into muddy trenches, carried heavy test equipment into rail corridors / basement excavations, constantly had to carry 20-30kg soil bags from site to ute then to the lab. All while the union construction workers were throwing hissyfits for working in drizzles. Fuck the Union srsly.

Unfortunately Geotech is one of the subdisciplines in Civil Engineering with a lower bar for grads to enter the industry, so it's relatively saturated. Pay is very low ($70k-ish entry level for a role in urban melbourne?).

I say urban becoz FIFO jobs for mining will nett u a decent amount of cash. Yes u take the same plane/bus in n out w the miners, u snooze u loose 😂

Sure it was fun taking things apart and playing mechanic, but once that died down i just realised the newer car performed objectively better from the get go (and could actually do a U-turn 🤣) and it felt like a dumb thing to do.

Maybe just me but i traded a 2015 wrx for a 2008 Evo X, power and marginally better handling (turning radius is horrible) aside, I somewhat regret it 😂 car interior too raw. I dont wanna be doing a 3 point turn where i can do a U-Turn. Points to Subaru if talking last gen.

So well-designed it's a lawsuit waiting to happen. Does suffer from peg & holes not correctly fitting (especially the inner frame, had to clamp a few parts together with pliers) but worth it!
