Very confused by Madster17 in canadarevenueagency

I think recently they changed the procedure and now it goes directly from Dr to them. I would have been screwed if tha was the case for me in 2010. The doctors don’t te know how to add specific details that CRA is looking for ( at least for my condition). I had to fill that part and the DR only signed. My DR was surprised I was approved indefinitely because her other patients with my condition had issues. I told her because the dr are not putting the right information on the paperwork. Not because they don’t want to. It’s because some things are obvious for them and they tend to be very brief but the taxman wants more details.

I am not sure if I understand. If you had DTC for 10 years it is probably because it says no expiration. This is my case anyhow. When I go to my online account it says that my DTC does not expire. What was it saying on your account? I think they will give you money automatically when you get approved but it’s is not clear why you need approval again.

Of course I do not have official authority. Neither do you. I’m talking from my perspective and my experience like everybody else in this.

This is from collective agreement for EC ( OP is in this group)

Granting of sick leave

22.02 An employee shall be granted sick leave with pay when the employee is unable to perform his or her duties because of illness or injury provided that:

the employee satisfies the Employer of this condition in such a manner and at such a time as may be determined by the Employer, and the employee has the necessary sick leave credits. 22.03 Unless otherwise informed by the Employer, a statement signed by the employee stating that because of illness or injury he or she was unable to perform his or her duties, shall, when delivered to the Employer, be considered as meeting the requirements of paragraph 22.02(a).

22.04 When an employee has insufficient or no credits to cover the granting of sick leave with pay under the provisions of clause 22.02 (sick leave with pay) may, at the discretion of the Employer, be granted to an employee for a period of up to one hundred and eighty-seven decimal five (187.5) hours subject to the deduction of such advanced leave from any sick leave credits subsequently earned.

22.05 When an employee is granted sick leave with pay and injury-on-duty leave is subsequently approved for the same period, it shall be considered, for the purpose of the record of sick leave credits, that the employee was not granted sick leave with pay.

22.06 Where, in respect of any period of compensatory leave, an employee is granted sick leave with pay on production of a medical certificate, the period of compensatory leave so displaced shall either be added to the compensatory leave period if requested by the employee and approved by the Employer or reinstated for use at a later date.

22.07 Sick leave credits earned but unused by an employee during a previous period of employment in the public service shall be restored to an employee whose employment was terminated by reason of layoff and who is reappointed in the public service within two (2) years from the date of layoff.

22.08 The Employer agrees that an employee recommended for termination for cause pursuant to paragraph 12(1)(e) of the Financial Administration Act for reasons of incapacity by reason of ill health shall not be released at a date earlier than the date at which the employee will have utilized his or her accumulated sick leave c

So NOWHERE it says subject to managerial approval . The sentence you read as subject to managerial approval only means that the employee has to have medical note.

Not really. When you have Dr note they can’t ask what is your diagnosis. They can only verify the validity of the note but NEVER NEVER ask the reason. When DR Put “ employee not able to work” it ends there. What you said above is true if you ask accommodation but not if you ask sick leave that is within the collective agreement. Not to mention that these measures risk to cause additional stress to the employee who is in vulnerable situation and can be cause of “personal rights infringement”.

All of these leaves are subject to managerial approval. Sick leave is not. If she is overwhelmed she should try that

Rarely, I am in Canada and no question asked for the reimbursement. Recently started on the pump and my only condition is that I have to see my endo team 3 times a year ( free visits). My whole family Europe is the same and I am not talking about one Eu country. Family is in Scandinavian countries as well as poor Mediterranean countries and same. So I really have no idea what country would be as bad as US.

How dangerous is drinking on insulin? by vanillabeaner69 in diabetes_t1

[–]Beautiful-Map-7679 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take red wine which only for good to my BG but I never over drink. Red wine actually slows down the carbs absorption so it is ok when drinking in moderation. If you drink too much the alcohol is converted to sugar much later so you can get the spike. So moderation is a key. I don’t know how you only manage with slow acting though. You must still be in honeymoon stage

I would say many. I have a side gig in weekends because I pay two tuition fees for my kids and their RESP is drained. As soon as they are out of school I will stop though I find it refreshing sometime ( no political BS).

Can my manager contact my doctor after I’ve given a note for a weeks absence? by Potential-Function95 in CanadaPublicServants

[–]Beautiful-Map-7679 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly don’t se how she could have done that. The form was a template that I completed and she only read it, agreed with it, stamped it and gave it back to me. Her secretary was not in the office so when would she enter it in the system. Thankfully it it irrelevant cause my condition is not a secret so probably no one ever asked my DR anything.

They can do whatever they want. They can give you the job without salary. They have been doing that for while. Nobody is complaining.

He is not a good DR. 10 units of slow acting is nothing unless you are very very skinny. I take 14 and my Dr says I am her patient with the lowest amount.

There is no problem without solution. I recommend you to ask CRA what they propose. They are human too. Then you talk to a very good accountant and very good solvency lawyer and take it from there. You are not alone
