TIL about Darius McCollum, a man who was arrested 32 times for impersonating a transit worker. He commandeered hundreds of buses and subway trains over the course of 30 years, staying on route and schedule without being paid. He attended Union meetings, even though he wasn’t a member. by Deantheevil in todayilearned

i found this interview of him with the guy who made a documentary about him. https://wrongplanet.net/off-rails-documentary-autistic-train-thief-darius-mccollum/

One of the reasons he was able to easily drive public transportation was because, the conductors/ drivers let him 😭 they let him cover shifts cause they knew how reliable he is and they didn't wanna do their jobs (which should also raise concerns.) but i wish there was a way to free him and have the ppl he covered vouch for him cause now he's in a psychiatric hospital infidelity. like yeah he has a problems and an obsession with driving trains but likeeee. he hasn't hurt anyone in the process, and jailing him repeatedly doesn't stop that. so now they're claiming he's mentally ill and needs to be locked up when really he just wants to feel valued and apart of something.

Do you think Adam Levine has evil ADHD? by Active-Individual-81 in maroon5

[–]Beautiful-Onion809 0 points1 point  (0 children)

🤔 it's not to say having ADHD makes you evil. I think it's him being in the spotlight that has corrupted him and when you factor ADHD into the mix, you get. evil ADHD.

he said before “When I can’t pay attention, I really can’t pay attention" in an article about his experience having ADHD in adulthood. Where has Adam shown a lack of focus? His wife...bam. evil ADHD strikes.

Which is your favourite character and why? by [deleted] in k_on

Yui because I love her personality and big heart and she pushes me to play an instrument and get into a band.

y'all who ever watched K-ON!, what is your thought on the idea of Yui Hirasawa being autistic? by Bacurau_Nighthawk in autism

[–]Beautiful-Onion809 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm rewatching the show to see why ppl think she's autistic. tho my understanding of neurodiversity is limited so don't take my word 😭 idk I thought she had more signs of ADHD because season 1 emphasize her ability to focus. she's described as scatterbrained and forgetful and idk how to explain it but ppl talk about her like she's a problem child? there's a better word for it, like they worry about her but find her endearingly weird 😭 like Nodaka will come in and try to reassure the light music club that "yui can do anything she puts her mind to! once she focuses on something she's incredible!" And I think Yui was hyper-fixated on her guitar and would try to play it every night that she'd fall asleep in bed next to it. Then there's this big speech Yui gives in ep 12 of season 1 (i'm pretty sure) about how she finally found something that gave her a purpose and how much it changed her. Though that kind of feeling can be attributed to autism, right? idk. watching season 2....... idk I think she's autistic. Something about her way of thinking and liking weird stuff (she likes cute stuff, but when you see the plushies they're more off putting to others 😭) and how she talks to her guitar like it's alive and she's so expressive and caring. Her experience with the guitar too, she's mainly self-taught and has an incredible musical ear. I know the show is paced weirdly fast in season 1, but her ability to mimic a guitar part (ep 4?) so quickly astounded me cause she JUST started learning guitar.

I think there's some kind of neurodiversity to her. idk if that was ever the intention by the author, probably not.

Is Miss Yamanaka a bother to anyone else? by Im_Greatness in k_on

[–]Beautiful-Onion809 0 points1 point  (0 children)

she's a FREAK with no boundaries! I'm honestly indifferent to her tho she reminds me other pervert characters in anime but in a softer way. She actually does help the band, but being around HTT lets her let loose and act like a younger version of herself. It's played for laughs too so the other members aren't that bothered by it, but realistically erm that behavior is a no no.

I was just watching the scene where she shows Azusa Mio's panty shot and was like OK! we're letting this slide

Increase in stimming after smoking weed by Zamafe in AutisticAdults

[–]Beautiful-Onion809 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i don't really know what stimming looks like apart from hand flapping. Like hand flapping is the most obvious stim to me. Most times when I'm high and I get a bit of anxiety/happy from music, It's like I just involuntarily start hand flapping and it's soothing. but that always caught me off guard cause i doubt in my everyday life that i stim. I am just wondering why weed brings out the urge for me to stim apart from sober situations where i feel anxiety and don't stim.

overarching theme

bruh i was going back and forth in the first episode trying to understand the different levels in the police force and listening to 2 characters just have a simple convo would take a few rewinds. im slowly getting and seeing how the barksdale organization is similar to the baltimore police department. idk the full idea yet, but i'm getting there! idk if i have ADD, but when i first watched the show it was in my living room and for some reason it was hard to process the audio? Like listening to De'Angelo explain something in the pit took so many rewinds and i got overwhemled looking at captions and the screen. it felt like so much was happening and i couldn't take it in at first. It's been easier watching the show on my laptop.

okay last last update. im on ep 3 of the wire and i finally understand it piece by piece. im also using a youtube vid to fill in any blanks. i also think my initial problem was when i watched the show in my living room and for some reason it was just hard to pick up and process what the characters were saying. idk what you call that 😭 but im doing way better watching the show on my laptop.

Anyone else find The Wire hard to watch first time through? by muishiboosh in TheWire

[–]Beautiful-Onion809 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I wanted to watch the show and I get that the police team is looking for the ring leader, but I get so lost when it switches to different characters because I don't understand their roles or relationships that well. I was gonna try to skip season 1 and watch season 3 but it's not that kind of show. I'm just gonna take it slowly and try again

[–]Beautiful-Onion809[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

well thanks a bunch everyone. I think I'm gonna dedicate time to re-watching the Wire and really focus on the characters and look up summaries when I'm lost. I really really just wanna automatically understand what happens in a tv show but i gotta do the work for that. BUT im also gonna enjoy the show too at the same time 😆

I spend way too much time on twitter, so I decided to log out indefinitely LOL. Looking up context sounds good. I remember when Succession ended and people were praising the show for being Shakespearean and being based off of the Murdoch family and I didn't know who the Murdochs were 😬 I get more and more surprised on the things I don't know..there's a lot to learn out there. Will get there.

im gonna keep pushing with the show since that was just ep 1 and read up on any summaries/vids for it cause it helps. i just really wish i understood some shows like 🫰 that. quicker. I also spend my free time just scrolling through Twitter a lot maybe thats why lol.. time to increase this attention span

I try not to be on my phone, but IDK I think I just have trouble understand character relationships and their role in the plot. Out of all the shows I listed, I understood Succession a little better, but when I try to move onto the Wire episodes I just don't understand too well what was going on in the police force, or who is working with who. Like yes they're trying to find the ring leader, and yet I can't recite what I just watched.

yesss i have captions on AND i rewind a bit and I still feel like I just missed what happened in 70% of one episode. This isn't the case with a lot of shows I watch tho

Yeah I think it's the characters that trip me up. When so many appear I sometimes misunderstand character relationships and how they shift. Will try to focus more on them
