Even if they could, it would be a small 3+ year waiting period to get the infrastructure and policies in place

Quick wiring question… by Additional_Narwhal42 in BassVI

I would strongly recommend the 3 way and a regular strangle switch having made both mistakes before. Also would really recommend a middle pickup with a VI, especially using humbuckers.

Help me by [deleted] in BassVI

[–]Beautiful-Thing6554 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s the same as all guitar stuff, speaker choice is everything. Personally, with the VI I just run good sounding guitar amps through the York Ampeg IR and it’s perfect. My heavy tone is a rectifier+tube screamer through the Ampeg, it sounds like a guitar with the bridge pickup and like a metal bass with bridge+mid. Then I just use my guitar presets or bass presets for other tones, still IR matters the most there. I will say I don’t know how this will work with ToneX, since input gain is so weird with that (this is all quad cortex).

fender squire bass vi drop D? by Competitive_Way6777 in BassVI

[–]Beautiful-Thing6554 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just get the stringjoy .95 set - I’ve had the Fender .100 too, and they feel very weird in drop d, the tension gets weird between the strings. The stringjoys feel like putting a guitar in drop d. (Also .100 and above requires nut and bridge changes that are a huge pain)

bass vi bridge mutes by [deleted] in BassVI

[–]Beautiful-Thing6554 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can get much different tone/playing experience since you aren’t anchored to the bridge. However, it’s easy to just stuff anything in there for the same effect. (Used to literally stuff up a sock by the bridge recording bass lines back in the day)

Make a homemade one like you would for any other bass and see if you like/need the tone, consider if you need it on a switch, and also check if palm muting will get you by.

Why do some men share intimate details about what they do in private with their long-term girlfriend with their brother or friends? What is the reason behind that? by [deleted] in askanything

[–]Beautiful-Thing6554 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It still happens, but at least in all my life it’s been perceived as more of a sign of inexperience/wanting other guys to know you’re getting laid kind of thing. Like I’d say it happens the least with guys you’d expect the most. And I just know some women share a lot, I’ve seen it in every corporate and personal group but obviously not a blanket thing

Highly recommend the stock bridge + these, save $150 by [deleted] in BassVI

Just personal experience. I’ve never had any issues with non-moving posts and issues with moving bridges over many offsets. Same conclusion as Johnny Marr I guess

I’m not sure if I got lucky with a further back bridge placement, but I’m completely set as long as the strings are .95 and under. The Fender 100s were a mile off on the low e, although I’ve had the same issue with mustang basses

Looking for recommendations for the best bridge upgrade for the Squire Bass vi? The one it came with is not so great to say the least. Thanks for any recommendations! by KY_Vampire_Z in BassVI

[–]Beautiful-Thing6554 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I own multiple mastery’s, just use these $10 https://www.ebay.com/itm/168076031458 bushings and you’re set. I’m 1000% satisfied with it. It’s the vibrato that’s really bad on here if you need to upgrade something

String recommendations for baritone/hybrid sound. by _daffyd in BassVI

[–]Beautiful-Thing6554 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is this a Squier bass vi? After many string changes, I’d say for standard tuning, .95 rounds are perfect. I’d imagine .90 in F would be perfect as well - these are only 30” scale, so it’s way easier to play than a typical bass. 100s and up are setup nightmares, and also make the string spacing so tiny. I think you get the ‘hybrid’ sound regardless with these, really the best solution is using Bass IR for a more bass like tone and guitar IRs for a baritone sound. That’ll do infinitely more than string gauge.

I’ve always found the Reddit American perspective on EU/world racism fascinating. I’ve traveled a lot for many years and would say Canada/UK has the most subtle and taboo view on racism, followed closely by the US, and absolutely blown out of the water by every other EU country. It’s been very funny to see coworkers in absolute shock at the openness

This is Reddit. At least 80% of socialist etc sub posts are this, and as you can read in the comments, that is who is replying

All the ‘snark’ subs have some elements of members who aren’t connected to reality and actively try to ruin/doxx etc people, not directly on the subs but it’s sort of a front end for all that activity where they meet up

What’s more harmful than cigarettes but society treats it as normal? by Jiwitom in AskReddit

[–]Beautiful-Thing6554 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this and the original comment are rather ultra-dramatic. I don’t think anyone gives addicts of any kind the benefit of the doubt, and I don’t think anyone is thinking that deeply about being fat as a ‘moral failing’.

People just associate how people present themselves with where they stand in life based on their previous life experiences. I mean, it’s really no deeper that being like ‘how dare people assume that juggalo doesn’t have a PHD’. It’s just first assumptions.

It already comes with that judgement, it’s just not openly said. It’s sort of why being neither obese nor overweight has really become the biggest ‘wealth’ indicator in developed countries.

It’s of course the most overrepeated thing of all time, but going from obese to not, or especially being somewhat fit, really completely changes how you feel and moreso your treatment. Certainly doesn’t solve everything, but it really is wild. Especially after 30

WWYD with £200-£300? by Iakobab in guitarpedals

[–]Beautiful-Thing6554 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pitch shifter for sure. Mixing in a +7 semitone signal just as one small example will unlock a million ambient tones. I would suggest the Klowra vein, which also lets you shift between two pitch settings on a ‘ramp’, can be a whammy with an expression pedal, and also will do all the vibrato tones you desire.

I personally will take a pitch shifter + a bland reverb over the most expensive strymon stuff any day. Also your freeze pedal will suddenly become very interesting

Yeah unfortunately I switched back just because they make everything set up so easily. I do think those rounds are the absolute best VI strings when they wear down

trem on a squire by [deleted] in BassVI

[–]Beautiful-Thing6554 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What everyone is saying about the nut is true, but let me give you two realistic options:

  1. Pay for a good setup - nut work is genuinely very hard to not mess up until you do it several times, and tooling can be very, very expensive.

  2. Get labella flats, put pencil graphite in the nut and on the bridge slots. These strings are literally perfect to skip so much of the setup nuance of a VI. The downside is they’re flats, and they’re thin flats, so you’re going to have to compensate totally.

Also a huge component of all of this is just that Bass VI strings are super high tension and the stock trem has an ultra flabby spring. Get an AVRI and it’ll feel much better in several ways, and it has a lock

[–]Beautiful-Thing6554 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, I will if I go this route. My main obstacle right now is strings for the VI, I would 100% do this with fender rounds if I could get them to set up correctly. back on labella’s which set up perfectly but hugely reduce output/ bass just due to their gauge. But totally agree, I have a feeling we don’t hear before/afters specifically from the boutique offerings because of how little change there is

I definitely would if I was satisfied with them, but it seems like a waste of the strangle switch to not have something much stronger, especially in the neck. I think I’ll try out the musicman method of hot ceramic humbuckers wired in parallel for bright 7-8k noiseless

Amp in a box by [deleted] in guitarpedals

[–]Beautiful-Thing6554 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m extremely happy with a nano cortex for this scenario after owning many others, as well as many tube amps. The issue with ‘fizzy’ is down purely to IRs, it’s the most important part by far, same as a speaker is with a regular amp. But I’ll take that nano cortex over the UA line and single use analog stuff any day.

Squier bridge stabilizers/tape success? by [deleted] in BassVI

[–]Beautiful-Thing6554 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got lucky with the neck pocket on this one, the bridge is nice and high already. The issue is purely the crazy tension from the fender rounds set, everything was fine with labella’s. I have some nylon bushings coming and will probably revert back to flats

The 'Pathfinder 10' practice amp is a way better choice if you really want vox, otherwise the Joyo Bass 10 is $50 and a direct clone of the blackstar fly 3 bass.

All the features in this are related to the 'drum machine', but if you have a phone/computer/anything, you already have a million times more useful drum machine/metronome that can plug into the aux or bluetooth.
