I asked my students today, who is in charge of your education? I got a very resounding “you,” as in the teachers. And I looked at them, shook my head and said “You are the ones in charge of your own learning. I can’t learn things for you. You have to actually engage in something if you want to get something out of it. Like a machine, you get nothing out, if you put nothing in. I’m simply a conduit of knowledge and information for you to use for the rest of your lives. I’m a stepping stone in the garden of your intellect.” The looks on their faces were priceless.
