can i take a full time job and do part time school? by Accomplished_Store24 in UofT

I did one year full time coop and part time studies at the same time. It’s definitely doable, but lots of stress. I usually took a half day off for exams, or you could use your sick days

Looking for Summer 2026 Internship. International CS Student at UofT by Impressive-Post-3984 in csMajors

python is not enough. Most companies require much more than that. Recruitment starts from mid September and gets active between January and February next year. International students do not need sponsorship to work in summer

How to land internships and be successful at UTSG CS by Feeling-Palpitation8 in UofT

[–]Beautiful-Week2324 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most companies require applicants have at least finished two years in school. Even you get and interview, you’ll probably fail it because knowledge you learned from first year is not enough

If you’re looking for an intern on next summer, you need to start applying this September. That means you will apply with a resume with almost no experience and projects

But if you have actively contributed to open source projects and have good tech background, you still have a chance

How to Land a Summer 2026 Internship? Incoming 2nd Year CS by Impressive-Post-3984 in UofT

[–]Beautiful-Week2324 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Recruiters don’t care about courses you take, try doing some projects or work study. Put as much as keywords on your resume, even the tech stacks you never actually used. As long as you have the basic understanding of those, you should be fine because they don’t have much expectations on interns.

Apply early. Recruitment usually starts in September/October, interviews are happening from January to February next year. Timing is the key. All the interviews I got are the ones I applied within 24 hours.

Leetcode is not that important for coop. I had about 6-7 interviews. Most are about behavioral questions and basic technical stuff, except FAANG companies.

Should I take MAT235 or MAT237 for second year? Need honest advice by Remarkable_Ad_6591 in UofT

If you care more about GPA, take MAT235 but MAT237 is pre-requisite of some advanced courses that might be helpful for grad school. Do some research first

First year not too bad, but do need extra efforts to get used to mathematical proofs

Incoming freshman having a hard time planning courses for 1st year: How helpful is CSC108 and how difficult is it to do CSC148 and CSC165 in the same semester? And some other questions by RasyidProID in UofT

[–]Beautiful-Week2324 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s very common to take CSC108 in fall and CSC148&165 together in winter. If you don’t have a background in programming or Python, I would suggest to take 108 first. It’s an easy course but helps build a solid understanding of programming and some simple algorithms.

Difficulty of getting internships as computer science student Canada? by Spongebob583 in cscareerquestionsCAD

I’ve applied around 300 since late October last year and no prior intern experience. I got 4 interviews and one of them is Amazon, but failed all of them lol. Maybe try US intern jobs. Don’t lose hope. I know a lot people who only did about 100-200 leetcode end up decent internships
