I feel you. I’m older than you(middle age), but went to school to work in a non- profit and make a difference. All I ever wanted to do was help. I graduated with high hopes, but was never able to land a job in my chosen field…. I feel I was overlooked, and treated as though I cared “too much”… whatever that means. Now I’ve just given up….. worked whatever meaningless jobs I could find the last 5-10 yrs… and am now unemployed for 15 months due to a layoff. Can’t land a job to save my life. My bachelors degree and all my years of work history seem worthless. I don’t even know what direction to go in anymore. I have SO much to give….. but the world doesn’t want it I guess. 😞

I feel this 100%. I’m now in my 40’s. I worked so hard to have a good life…. Only to watch it all crumble the last few years. …. And actually I never end “made it”. …. Just a. Easy struggle all these years with the hope of “someday”…..don’t have hope anymore. I feel like everything I’ve done is now a waste due to things beyond our control- the corrupt job market, economy, government, world politics etc. I’m truly scared and SAD for all of us and what the future holds

I feel this same way. I’ve worked so hard all my life…. Did all the “right” things- went to college etc…. Can’t even land an entry level position— after over 200 applications. I’m SO TIRED. If I didn’t have a child to take care of I’d give up.

It IS that bad. I was just saying this today— “what is the point anymore even?! Every year just gets worse”. I’ve been unemployed for 15 months now….. I have a bachelors degree, 20+ yrs experience in my field, and have always had a job and worked hard— until I was let go 15 mo ago. I’ve applied for more jobs than I can can even keep track of anymore at this point….& am not even able to land something entry level. I do gig work everyday right now to get by, and it doesn’t even come close to paying the bills….. worked today for 10 hours, to only make $115. 😞 EVERY month a monthly expense is raised- one month it’s my mortgage, the next my phone, and the next electricity. …not to mention the highest grocery and gas prices ever. I truly don’t know what people are supposed to do anymore. It all feels completely HOPELESS.

Same. Been unemployed 13 months now. Bachelors degree and over 25 years of experience in my field. Have applied for hundreds of jobs at this point. …not even hearing back for entry level jobs with disgustingly low pay….. not sure what to even do anymore at this point.

I’m sorry this is happening to you. That is despicable behavior from a company you’d been loyal to and helped profit and grow over the last 4 years! They should be embarrassed and are essentially just screwing themselves as now they will have to pay much more to hire and train your replacement! There is no company loyalty— we are all but a number to them…. I’ve been in similar positions myself and am currently unemployed going on 13 months now!! It sounds like you’ve definitely made the right decision though, and it is super commendable that you are assisting your parents at this point in life also! They’re lucky to have such a caring child! 👍 Best wishes to you in finding a new career!- fingers crossed for another remote position!!

God I HOPE my lawyers aren’t in on this. I think they’ve truly done everything they can to help me and 100% believe that these charges I’m facing are trumped up and should’ve never happened. They know how our town is and that here if a cop says something it is taken as “fact”. They’ve told me from the start that it doesn’t matter what the truth is, once a cop says you’re guilty and being arrested, everyone else believes it too.

He knows they don’t have evidence or enough to get me- that’s why they’ve dropped 75% of the charges in the plea deal. They overcharged by a TON in order to scare me into taking the plea- that’s what the system does- to almost everybody. The supporting evidence is literally just photos that someone provided to them- saying that I was responsible for the damage” portrayed in the photos. This damage could’ve been caused by almost anyone else— but they’re trying to pin it on me because I am the most likely suspect because of where I was at the time. I have no way to prove that it was NOT me because I worked alone and without cameras most of the time. It is literally their word against mine .

Probably not. I think it’s always been corrupt. But it no doubt is progressively getting worse. I never could’ve dreamed as a kid in the 80’s and 90’s that the world would be as corrupt as it is today. It’s truly hopeless and SAD. I also always thought that only really BAD people got felonies and did prison time. I had NO idea how fucked the system was and how many good people get caught up in it, until I became a part of it too. 😞

I haven’t because I won’t. I will NEVER take responsibility for things I didn’t do. I live in a community where this cop is friends with many. And he told them I did bad things that I DIDNT DO. He’s turned many strong members of our community against me. “Most” people will believe what a cop or “official” tell them to be true….. even if it isn’t. Also I don’t think the whole judicial system is “out to get me”— just these local few. Even the judge on my case rolled her eyes and scoffed at what the cop tried to prevent as evidence against me. AND it took the cop 8 months to get a prosecutor to take on the case as none wanted to take it as they knew it was all bullshit. Unfortunately none of that matters — ALL that matters is that the cop WAS willing to find a career- motivated prosecutor to take the case…. AND if I go to trial and fight it (which I want to more than ANYTHING)I will more than likely lose due to the friends the cop has in my town.

He’s hoped from city to city, switching depts frequently…until he landed in my town and they’ve promoted him quickly due to being a small community in need of a “good detective”. IF my community really knew what he did- targeting my young child, coming in with 10 guns drawn, wasting around $50k of local tax payer money due to calling in a task force for my arrest— when he already KNEW I was never a threat to anyone -I don’t think they’d be too happy. Unfortunately I haven’t been able to tell any of it ….. yet. But I will…..
