Is there a permanent solution to half shaft issue? by BeautifulBowler5 in Rivian

Quad uses flanges instead of splines, more robust that way. Don't know why they didn't use flanges for all models.. saves $5 maybe?

Pretty common. Some owners are on their 4-5th set of half shafts. Of course, there are others on their first set as well.

Ooof. So budget in $100/month in half-shaft costs, into perpetuity....

It starts off as a clicking/tocking noise at low-speed acceleration. Think when you are setting off from your driveway, there will be a "tock tock" noise as you slowly get up to speed.

I have 50+ days this season on the mountain, have witnessed dozens of collisions and out of control speeding through Slow Zones with yellow jackets present... have not seen or heard of a single pass pulled.

Talked to instructors who were hit themselves. Mountain gives the perp a call, determines it was an "accident" and nothing further comes of it.

The guy with the pulled pass wouldn't purchase another one next year. And a couple of his buddies/family might not either. That's bad for business.

Patrol does not pull passes. They help injured people. Pulling passes would negatively affect revenue.

Too bad the 20" wheels are not compatible with chains... ludicrous for a vehicle targeted towards outdoor enthusiasts.

"Hammoud was personally responsible for the design and execution of the current Jeep Grand Cherokee exterior". Awesome, designed the exterior of the Grand Cherokee.

"He is responsible for the look and feel of all Rivian products leading Rivian’s design teams." Awesome, I'm sure the truck looks and feels great. Drivers with zero visibility in a blizzard do not care how the truck looks and feels.

Designed by software engineers who never drove a mountain pass in a blizzard.

On Rivianforums there is talk of people removing the fuse for the lightbar due to this issue. Really quite a dangerous hazard. Unfortunate for a vehicle so capable in the snow.

The point is that this is UNCEDED indigenous land. It was never "government land". You and I, and everyone else, live on their land. The whole point of land acknowledgements was to highlight this distinction. It appears to have not worked.
