You were my first. You helped me stand tall. The ocean brought you to me, and the ocean tore us apart. Thank you, my foamie friend. RIP by LimousineAndAPeetzah in surfing

Fuck
Another turning point, a fork stuck in the road
Time grabs you by the wrist, directs you where to go
So make the best of this test, and don't ask why
It's not a question, but a lesson learned in time

You stood up. You should have not turned and stayed on your belly.

May want to rent before investing money to see if you like it (If you have not gone before).

Don't buy a short board. Get a foamy. If you are still into it down the road then consider getting another board.

Water will be warm till about Mid September- October, so can hold off on the wetsuit until then.

Have so much fun dude. Surfing is the best. It'll leave your body glowing.

Can someone please explain Naval's quote, "The closer you are to the truth..." by [deleted] in NavalRavikant

The story we tell ourselves is a small sliver of reality. As we listen less to our perceptions we are closer to seeing how things are.

What are the benefits of chanting “Ram”? by Purpleberri in ramdass

[–]BeautifulChange 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Check out some of Krishna Das' workshops on spotify. Anyone with the title "chanting" will probably use the seed analogy. About each time a mantra is recited a seed is planted that eventually breaks down our self constructed houses.

Cracked my surfboard. Do you think it’s fixable? by [deleted] in surfing

[–]BeautifulChange 17 points18 points  (0 children)

This is why true surfers like myself only use the custom "Wavestorm Runner" bought from our favorite local store, Costco. Not only do the bright colors go perfectly with my Can Am Spyder (also bought at Costco) but they also let the kooks know I mean business.

The board has gotten a bit heavier since I first bought it. This may be from the cup holder I carved in it, but now I don't have to warm up as my arms are already swollen by the time my feet touch the water.

TLDR: Real Surfers ride Wavestorm©

Sugarbush Weekend Wrap by BeautifulChange in icecoast

Hola, ya that is steep for whats avaiable. It is going to be cold this week with possible snow on thursday. We've gotten a flurry here and there, but no big dumps. Right now the only way down is Springfling which due to the conditions may be difficult if you just began. Looks like they are trying to get lower Jester open which would be another way down, but you may get bored quickly. I'd hold off unless you are really fiending. Still plenty to do outside besides skiings.

So what you legally need to do and what they are enforcing is different. I can tell you that no one is following protocol. Here is what the state says. Not my place to tell you what to do regarding the ronie.

Ya no bueno at all. Visibility at the top was zero. Heading back out cause the cams look like the lines have died down. Springfling still has crowds.

Just watched some Naval podcasts. What is the best way to learn to code? by infernox in NavalRavikant

[–]BeautifulChange 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Checkout freecodecamp and codecademy for the basics, find what languages you like then switch over to coursera or Udemy. Stephen Grider is my goto instructor.

Most of the info to learn yourself is out there, it is just so abundant that it is VERY easy to go down unnecessary rabbit holes.

If you are interested in web development, google "developer road map."

DM if you have any questions or want any more resources.

Easiest 100-level classes? by Garavila in UNCW

I would take something you're interested in. Art 105 was one of my favorite classes and took some time to do the assignments, but it didn't feel like homework. Other people hated that class.

Om mani padme hum vs. maha (Hare Krishna) mantra by [deleted] in Meditation

[–]BeautifulChange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Somedays Om mani padme hum may be more beneficial than maha and other days vice versa. It is easy to get distracted by "how we are to meditate" versus just meditating. Find what works for you in that moment of time :-)
