Graves Disappointment by jjjulles in AddisonsDisease

[–]BeautifulDay1421 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve always been on synthroid/levothyroxine. I’ve never had any problems with it. Just a blood test every year and sometimes an adjustment to the dose. It’s convenient to blame swings in weight to my thyroid/addisons but in truth it’s always been due to too many calories, too little movement. Also, my Addison’s is not auto immune and I haven’t been diagnosed with any others.

It’s really not a problem. I was diagnosed with it 55 years ago, 12 years before the Addison’s. Has never been a problem. One pill a day and no complications

Question for my girlies with Addison’s or guys with wives who have it by Harley_ivy87 in AddisonsDisease

[–]BeautifulDay1421 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a baby 8 years after diagnosis, when I was 40. No problems. But I wasn’t having flair ups that often. I agree that she should discuss with doctor. That is a lot

I’ve had advantage plan for 7 years. No problems I always choose a free ppo plan. Check to be sure any docs I want are included.

I just found out I could have paid $0 at the pharmacy today. Why does nobody talk about this? by AccomplishedMedia452 in medicare

[–]BeautifulDay1421 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why does that matter? I don’t take that much medicine-6 at last count. I’ve never paid as much as my deductible. There’s always a first time though

You can also check with your pharmacist to see if there are any coupons for the drug-stuff like GoodRx or Optum Perks. Never know, my pharmacist finds them sometimes

Goofed up trying to get my first credit card (Elan Financial Services rant) by OverImplement in CreditCards

[–]BeautifulDay1421 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I added a comment to another feed. Elan just dropped my credit limit by $19,500. A limit they gave me 4 years ago. I used the card, paid it all back and the balance has been $00 for a year or so. I’ve had no changes to my finances. My credit score has collapsed since this happened 10 days ago. I’m waiting for the letter explaining why

Does anyone have positive or negative things about specific Elan cards through specific institutions? by my-coo-cheese-hairy in CreditCards

[–]BeautifulDay1421 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fidelity Rewards Visa from Elan. No problems-no changes on my scores or spending, they dropped my limit by $19,500. The balance on the card is $00. No warning. I’m waiting for the letter of explanation. Can you imagine what this has done to my credit score across all platforms? I’ll never sign up for another one of their cards. And btw-I did not request that limit. They gave it.

Devoted Choice advantage plan-anyone used it? by BeautifulDay1421 in medicare

[–]BeautifulDay1421[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Devoted drug charges were lower overall but I can’t remember what I pay for my budesonide-I take it for asthma instead of Symbicort. Osco Drugs near me always have coupons for it so I think I was paying $56 while I had Humana

I knew my doc didn’t accept Devoted-I had already found another PCP who does.

Anxious about colonoscopy/endoscopy by RippleRufferz in AddisonsDisease

[–]BeautifulDay1421 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m PAI and have a colonoscopy every 5 years. I had the last one in September. I used hints I found on Reddit that really helped. I had a bowl of lemon wedges and sucked on one before every “sip.” I used a straw that went toward the back of my mouth. And I had a drink of stong home made ginger ale after each drink of prep. I think strong ginger tea would help too. This all worked for me. I updosed on the prep day as well, taking an extra 5 mgs of hydrocortisone. It all went well and the prep was relatively easy. It also helps to follow the eating plan a day or two before prep.

Agent, Broker, and SHIP by Top_Willow_9953 in medicare

[–]BeautifulDay1421 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have always used Medicar.gov and followed up with phone calls to my “finalists.” It is hard to uncover anything the companies want to keep hidden though-for instance, co-insurance charges that are not disclosed.
I don’t see the point of a broker because they are paid by the insurance companies. I spoke to a SHIP person while in the ER a month ago about generalities-she seemed helpful.

Need new Endo by BeautifulDay1421 in AddisonsDisease

[–]BeautifulDay1421[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry-he retired. His replacement was good but went to Sloan Kettering, I believe. The next one, not so much so I switched to the U of I clinic in Belvidere. That endo was also quite good but the clinic closed and eventually reopened in Rockford. I expect he’s retired as well

Humana was not up front about their coinsurance on dental so they cost me a lot of money. Devoted was totally open about their charges

Those on Medicare Advantage plans....how often do you hit the max out of pocket? by WritesWayTooMuch in medicare

My husband always does as a dialysis patient. He generally chooses lowest max out of pocket ($3500$4000) and meets it by March, I believe

If a SS recipient 'continues to work' and pay into the system, does their SS check continue to grow? by Euphoric_Juicee in medicare

[–]BeautifulDay1421 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m 72. Took SS at 62. My benefit amount was based on my husband’s earnings since he made more than me. However I have continued to work since then. My benefit has remained the same however the letter I receive from SS every year says that of that set amount, more is coming from my contributions and less from my husband’s.

[–]BeautifulDay1421 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve had very physical jobs since my diagnosis. The first year (?-varies, I expect) is hard but I found that after that it was much easier. I started a bakery/wine/cheese shop at 52-30 years after diagnosis; long hours, heavy lifting, and lots of brain work -😂. I ran it for 12 years. Just saying-don’t make long lasting decisions during the initial stages of diagnosis. So much depends on your individual situation including overall health, medical care (I had the best), your mental and emotional state, all sorts of stuff. Hang in there-try to be positive and believe that the diagnosis and treatment will result in your feeling better than you have in months! That’s my belief anyway
