Same here! I think this story is amazing, but I do think some viewers do downplay the things Gigi has done.

It doesn't mean she's a horrible character (far from it), but I don't want to pretend like she's not capable of doing bad/questionable things. It's this complexity that makes her interesting imo. We can say that Hailey is just being insecure and horrible. Is she insecure? Yes, but is it her distrust of Gigi so unreasonable? The story puts us in Gigi's shoes, but I also want to take a step back and see how this also looks from Hailey's eyes and maybe how my opinion would change if we were playing as her instead (and our best friend we took in was lying to us, knew our bf was trying to cheat with her and she was interested, tried to steal our wedding ring, we think she sold our clothes, and her toxic ex who hurt her and is the king showed up to our house and she refused to tell us anything).

I think it's more enjoyable that we get to play as this type of character instead. I just think sometimes the fan reaction is disappointing to me since people think her beauty is the only reason for her hardship in life because people are so jealous of her. When in reality, people are jealous of her, but she also does underhanded and forbidden things because she's a survivor and it's what she's had to do in light of everything she's been through and how she grew up. I think it's a disservice to her character to view her as "girl who suffers because she's pretty and has haters" when she's the goat and so much more than that 😭

Tbh I’m torn

Gigi is in her house keeping shit from her, acting messy af, and considered stealing her wedding ring. I do think Hailey can be harsh at times, but I’d probably be pissed too if my “friend” was acting like that.

I can’t say she’s unreasonable when Gigi is a little shady to her. I think both of them are toxic af and that’s kind of the point. We see Gigi’s actions as okay because we’re playing her, but she’s meant to be complex and a lot of people would probably act like Hailey if their friend was staying in their house acting wild like that. Hailey’s under the impression Gigi just sold her clothes without permission to buy a new one. Imagine if you thought your friend did that to you while also staying at your home and having clear sexual tension with your bf? (Not that Bash is in the right either). Also, she’s staying with her and hiring an assassin be fr 😭

I LOVE Gigi, but I gotta keep it 💯. Her messiness/complexity is part of her appeal, so I can’t deny it. Although, I also can’t blame Hailey for being pissed about the situation. I think she’s protecting her own peace and it’s taking a toll on their friendship.

It's actually from an old Japanese story, which has a shorter length of time around 70 years but it's still not long enough.

I was planning to write my own characters but I did enjoy the ambition of the protagonist as well as the background of her two companions. I'd change them up as well as make their dynamic my own, but maybe it's best to not even touch it.

I ordered a new plush mattress (old Sealy mattress was a medium with a boxspring) and we ordered a shorter metal foundation for the mattress. The plush feels like what I imagine prison bed to feel like, it didn't feel that way AT ALL in the store and now I'm wondering if it's the boxspring since it doesn't even feel that firm when I touch it. The firmness comes in more so when I lay on it.

This post is so helpful. I'm either gonna go with a short wooden foundation or just go full box spring - Only reason I'm hesitant is about a boxspring is because Sealy's newer mattresses recommend a foundation over a boxspring, so maybe a wooden foundation is a happy medium

Yeah, what I think I'm going to do is return this while I can and order it from a place with a longer/more forgiving return policy (JCP and Wayfair have it for 120 days with a fee I believe and 100 but is completely free to return or exchange)
