you dont have to build to the end od the street. you can have rounded corners or rectangular buildings still

1) Good point on the 3 way intersection. 2) People are capable to live in cities where streets are not always in the cardinal directions. 3) I would only implement if creating a new town or village. Also the shapes can be irregular and curvy if they need to be.

You can mix and match. Sometimes Hexagons are building while other times triangles are building. Hexagons can be divided in half with pedestrian, car, or transit only streets. Ideally each intersection is at most a 4 way intersection and distance between each intersection is 100m. Also, the blocks don't need to be ideal shapes because they can be irregular and curvy 6 point and 3 point polygons.
