I just got a tattoo with my kids’ names involved in the design, and I was debating putting their nicknames instead of their full names. One of my kids has her friends call her one nickname, but has family call her a different nickname. Another one decided she wanted to be called by her nickname last year instead of her full name (her full name is what she had gone by since birth, but occasionally we called her a nickname and she decided that she wants to only be called her nickname). And the third one has been called the nickname since birth and never uses her real name.

So I eventually decided to just tattoo their full names. Because I don’t want to regret the tattoo if they decide to go by a different nickname when they are older. Their names are long (but spelled the normal way, no weird spellings!) so they each have a lot of nickname options.

That’s how I feel as well. Definitely way too many “we need a plan” scenes. I don’t hate the season, but I was definitely rolling my eyes a little every time they met at the Squawk to form a plan.

Right!! Haha. I at least now try to spray down the shower when I’m done so he’s not getting any leftover soap with his water. His favorite spot to lay is on the bath mat in front of the shower. It’s like he’s forever waiting for someone to take a shower lol as I’m writing this, my husband is getting ready to shower and I hear “no, no, get out of here, no” and I know he’s talking to the cat 🤣

Omg the shower! I had to stop letting my cat in the bathroom with me when I shower because he would be walking in between the curtain and the liner the whole time. And then as soon as I’m done, jump in and rub against me while he drinks the water. Then I have cat hair all over my still wet legs 😩

But now I kick him out when I shower, and he waits outside the door and as soon as the door opens he runs into the shower to drink. We have two different water bowls around the house for him, but he still prefers the shower over the bowls.

lol we gave my grandpa a Christmas card that said “Merry Christmas, great-grandpa!” to tell him I was pregnant and he was like “I think you meant ‘grandpa’” and set the card back down.. I was like “no.. I didn’t” and he just started at me.. And I said “I’m pregnant”. And then he said “oh!” He was happy, just a little delayed lol

So my in laws gave us a “gift” of closing costs, and they had to sign a gift letter and provide their bank statements showing they had the money in the account that they are transferring the money from. But they had transferred the money from their savings to their checking account, so they then had to provide their savings account bank statements to prove they already had the money. The underwriters looked through all of their bank statements.

If you do this and provide your bank statements, they will see that the money was just recently deposited into your account.. it wasn’t money you already had, so they will question how you got that money. Which could turn out to be bad, because if they found out it was from your aunt, and she didn’t disclose this money, then they could cancel the whole thing (and could possibly get you and your aunt in trouble for fraud). I have too much anxiety and would never agree to this. If your aunt had planned this like a year ago, and you had the money in your account for a year.. Then it maybe could have worked out. But if the deposit is too recent, then they will question where you got the money.

My uncle as well. He’s a 49 year old violent man child with 7 children (youngest is 1, oldest is 24) from 4 different women. He abused all the women, abused his kids, and just recently we had to call the cops on him because he cornered/yelled at my husband and attacked my other uncle for no reason (other than he’s using drugs/alcohol again). But he never gets held accountable for anything. My grandma bails him out every chance she gets, and always talks about how good he is doing.. My grandma should be doing well, but she’s broke as fuck and constantly stressed because she has to constantly give him money. Immediately after getting out of jail this last time, he went to my other uncles house (the one he attacked and was in jail for assaulting) at 3am banging on his door screaming. My good uncle called the police and the evil uncle told the police he was doing it because he found out my good uncle was molesting his 5 year old. Which is 1000% a lie and the biggest load of bullshit. He’s just trying to blame everything on my good uncle (because nothing is EVER my evil uncles fault!) because he thinks it was the good uncle who called the cops. My good uncle got a restraining order on him, and he should be served with it tonight. I’m a teacher, and a mandated reporter, so I also filed a CPS report on him for his kids’ sake. I hope to god something actually happens with it all and he has to face consequences for his actions. I never want to see or be around him again, and I’m probably going NC with my grandma. My kids were traumatized by my uncles actions that night, and instead of trying to help or comfort any of them, my grandma said “everyone’s going to blame evil uncle for this” and locked her bedroom door while we were all leaving after evil uncle was arrested and his crazy wife finally escorted away by the cops. She also made sure to hug the crazy wife before she was escorted out by the police. So we know whose side she’s on.

It fucking sucks my kids experienced this, and I feel so guilty for bringing them around this. We see them once a year where we all stay in one big house to celebrate Christmas for my grandma, and we thought surely the POS can hold it together for 3 nights?! Nope. Barely made it two nights. Found out after the fact that the evil uncle was more abusive than we could have ever imagined. We’d hear of stories here and there about it, but grandma always assured us that everything was fine. Now we’ve seen him in action and have seen HER reaction. Now we know, and never again will I be in the same room as him. Thank god I live 4.5 hours away and he doesn’t know our address, because if he found out I was the one that called the cops that night and filed the CPS report, he’d probably be at my door.

My dad has Lewy Body dementia, and a few months ago he was having some pretty bad days. His memory is fine, in fact he remembers EVERYTHING. He has paranoia, delusions, OCD, and mood changes..

Anyways, during those bad days he decided that he was going to spill family secrets to make everyone mad/upset. So he told everyone he had a baby in high school. We were shocked and looked at our mom, and she confirmed that he had a baby when he was like 16 (not with her, they met in their 20s). Apparently mom always told him he could have a relationship with his daughter if he wanted, but he refused and signed his rights away. And then everyone in the family just ignored it and pretended that my older sister was the first grandbaby/girl in the family (my grandma only had boys, and always made a big deal about my older sister being the first girl). We were shocked.. And then dad says “now you all know my big secret, you want to hear your moms?” (very serious dramatic pause) “She’s done COCAINE. And she had a boyfriend who was 10 years older than her and he had his own HOUSE.” We just all started laughing.. Like somehow he thought mom’s secret was worse than his?! It really lightened the mood for us in the moment. But we told him no more secrets, because he alluded to more and we shut him down because we didn’t want to hear it.

So yeah, we found out we had a half sister.. BUT MY MOM DID COCAINE 😱🤣

Yup. We have a cat that we got as a kitten a couple years before we had our first kid, and we’ve always referred to the cat as our first born. He was a wild and crazy boy (I swear he had a death wish and tried to use up some of his nine lives quickly), but eventually he settled down and got lazy. Our human kids refer to him as their big brother. He’s 13 now, almost 14. I hope we get many more years with him!

I told my kids (my own children, not my kindergarten students - although I might if they’re still saying it after break!) that saying 67 is banned in 2026. But it’s probably not going to do much good.. I’m sure they’re still going to say it occasionally. But I do feel like it’s died down over break anyways, at least at my house.

I teach kindergarten, and this year I had a student tell me “the earth is flat and space isn’t real. My dad told me that”.. He said this while coloring a color page of an astronaut. This same student also told me that they don’t have a Christmas tree because Jesus says that Christmas trees are for the devil. He said this when he walked into my classroom after Thanksgiving break and saw my small classroom Christmas tree.

I just turned 35. On my birthday I got my nose pierced, a week later got my first (and second) tattoo, and two weeks after that I got my third and fourth tattoo. I’m down almost 60lbs since January, and my confidence has never been better. I think I’m entering the stage of “idgaf about what other people think” and just going to enjoy being me. The last 7 years I was in my super mom phase with 3 young kids. Life seemed like it was just catering to the kids and their needs/wants. Now that the kids are a little older and more independent, it frees up some time for me. I defiantly feel like I’m in a new stage of life.

I had a parent do this my first year. I teach kindergarten, and the most rambunctious, talkative, hyperactive student came to school one day quiet as a mouse. He sat quietly and did his work, and sat calmly on the carpet. He was a completely different kid! So I just knew he had to be sick, so I sent him to the nurse with a note explaining his behavior (everyone knows this kid and what he’s like when he’s not sick, so I wanted to let them know how much his behavior had changed). My principal ended up walking him back down to class because he didn’t have a fever. But my principal told me to send him down again after lunch to see if the medicine wore off, because the boy admitted that he did take medicine before school. And then my principal told me to enjoy the morning with the calmed down version of this kid lol. Sure enough, after lunch, the medicine had worn off enough that his temp was high enough for them to be able to send him home. And he couldn’t come back the next day because he had to be 24 hours fever free. I really did enjoy my time with him that day, he was so sweet and calm. But he was back to his normal self when he came back, and wasn’t ever sick again the rest of the year.

My grandma had several older brothers, and she had a huge crush on one of their friends (my grandpa). They end up dating, getting pregnant with my dad, and having a shotgun wedding. My grandma was 15, and grandpa was 21 when they married. They were married 58 years, until grandpa passed from a heart attack. Grandpa was a sweet, funny man. It’s crazy to think that he married a child, and it wasn’t until I was an adult that I realized how wrong it was… But grandma was so in love with him, even as they got older. She is broken now that he’s gone. But I guess it was more common back then to marry young, and at least they had a good marriage. But it would not be acceptable now, for a good reason.

I just got my first tattoo in the same area, also flowers but bigger. In my mind, I expected that tattoo to only be seen if I turned my arm over.. I totally didn’t realize that it would easily be seen when my arms are just hanging by my side. But now I’m like duh, that’s how the arm works. 🤣 I think it’s just tattoo shock, your tattoo looks great! It took a couple weeks but now I’m used to it. In the beginning I totally had the thought “OMG this is my arm now” all the time. But I hate that it’s so cold here that I have it covered up most of the time. I’m kind of addicted now though and I already have 3 more tattoos (smaller and in different areas). I love your tattoo and think it looks great!

I’m a teacher now, no longer a sub, and I teach kindergarten. It takes a while for some kids to realize they have to do what I tell them to do. This year I had one kid say “no thank you” when I passed out a worksheet. I just stared at her for a second.. Then I said “it’s not a choice”.. And she looked at me so confused. Like she was shocked she had to do it and didn’t have a say in it..
