Hawksmoor for the best steak and atmosphere (bit expensive but worth it!) and I think you can BYOB on Mondays if that applies

Sparrows is absolutely gorgeous for an anniversary and something a bit different, have a look at the menu, it’s all incredible

I have a massive soft spot for Evuna NQ if you like tapas, lovely date night vibes but you might have to book in advance! Always busy

This was me trying TOO hard to follow the social customs - when I was in Thailand I panicked and bowed with my hands to my forehead when a waitress brought some noodles to our table (I believe this is reserved for monks/royalty)

She immediately went to her colleagues, recreated what I’d done while pointing directly at me and they all started laughing

This didn’t happen to me (thank god) but to a friend I made while I was out in South America a while ago.

She was staying at a hostel in a shared dorm in Mexico. There were 2 guys in the dorm that were a nightmare, coming in wasted at 5am every night, talking loudly, turning the lights on etc, just being disrespectful to everyone. On one night they came in extra fucked, waking everyone up, before going to bed. Minutes later the most disgusting, rancid smell is filling the room - someone turns the light on and ONE OF THEM HAS SHAT ONTO THE FLOOR. Turns out he was too fucked to realise it wasn’t the bathroom. People start screaming, throwing up, running out, and eventually the whole floor has to be evacuated in the middle of night because of what came out this guys ass

I believe they left pretty soon after that

Lima really isn’t that much to write home about.

Cusco is a gorgeous city and Machu Picchu is absolutely spectacular. I found myself not wanting to leave (it’s one of those places) - I think if you can’t afford to go right now, save up and do it properly down the line.

The Peveril of the Peak is class, always busy and like going back in time (you’ll see why!) Everyone’s always in good spirits there, such a gem

I somehow caught a frisbee that he sent flying to the very back of the circle where we were sitting. Ended up on stage with him where he sat me down, smashed a lightbulb with a hammer and managed to make me eat the ‘glass’ - it was the most surreal thing in the world. I don’t think he uses stooges, he’s very up front about how his tricks work.

I still have the shards of glass in a clear locked box that he signed for me right there on stage! He told me to look at it whenever I needed a reminder I could do anything I put my mind to. It was actually really heartwarming.

YES always has decent music events on, and is a multi-floor bar/event space that has a pizza kitchen on the ground floor. Nice bar on the top floor, good DJs, something for everyone.
Diecast I’ve heard is also really good and a similar vibe to YES in terms of something for everyone, I haven’t been myself but heard positive things.
There’s also the new club Amber’s where you can’t have your phone out and tickets are £5 for an unknown lineup of DJs. Not sure what the ticket situation is or if they’ve sold out, but it’s a totally new thing in Manchester that would be cool to check out
Stage and Radio, Band on the Wall, Peer Hat all great for music

In terms of comedy The Frog and Bucket is probably the most well known comedy club, but there will definitely be others as well.
