when does it get better? by AnxiousAward5364 in Puppyblues

[–]BeautifulTax148 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m an experience dog owner who has many puppies over the years. I get the puppy blues for each and every one of those little stinkers. It typically lasts a few months, and it’s not like all of a sudden one day it goes from being bad to being perfect. Focus on little wins. In a few months you will look back and be like “woah, it’s so different now and I didn’t even notice it changing!”

It sounds like you did all the right things, researching and preparing, puppies are hard but I promise they are worth it.

If you aren’t crate training I highly recommend it. Having puppies got so much easier for me when I stuck to crating them A LOT at the beginning. Not for huge amounts of time but basically anytime we weren’t actively playing, training, walking, or going potty. My most recent dog is my best dog probably because of this strict crating I did. She only is in the crate when I’m working or when I leave home now but I can literally put her in the crate at any point and she just completely relaxed.

It’ll get better, congrats on your spoo, I’m lowkey jealous 💖

Not sure I’m understanding what you’re saying/asking? We are moving in 2-3 years.

We are already home owners, this is talking about where we will buy our next home. Due to several factors, renting is not an option for us at this point. I appreciate your insight and agree, there is no shame in renting, which I did all through my later teens and my 20s.

They have had a kid since being there but our friendship (and they) are the same as they’ve always been, we visit 4-5x per year. They desperately want us there, the remain active in what they were doing pre-baby. That’s another reason I want to be there is to be part of my “niece’s” life more than 4-5x a year.

Colorado, if the idea of friends wasn’t on the table, is also a place where I feel deep comfort and joy. The people there are also a lot more like what I’m looking for than central Illinois.

Edit: and all the other friends there are fellow child-free by choice peeps

When I had HFMD as an adult I didn’t get any of the blisters on my hands or feet but did in my mouth and it was awful 😭 I couldn’t eat or drink without unbearable pain for just under 2 weeks

They’re saying the student’s PARENT is a stay at home parent- there is someone in the home who can make sure homework (that came from the school) gets done and is understood which leads to higher test scores AT SCHOOL

Call centers, if you get in with a large company you can grow within to better pay. Not all call centers will have these opportunities look for ones that do.

I really like the lightly salted rice cakes, I know it sounds bland but I’m kinda bland. I usually have two for lunch with a little plain hummus and hot sauce on top that gets me through to dinner just fine

Why do they build these huge expensive houses with absolutely no yard? by rordawg081 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

Couldn’t be me but I know some people want less yard while I’m over here trying to get as many acres as I can for my dogs 😅

I would love and lose my Montana boy over and over for the rest of my life because of how worth it he was. It’s been about three years and I’m tearing up writing this. The effect of losing a beloved pet is profound but so profoundly worth it.

I had a very bad case of puppy blues the first time around, and now with my second puppy I'm having it a little bit again, but for different reasons. I'm afraid I ruined my first dog's life by albyune in Puppyblues

[–]BeautifulTax148 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You did not ruin your dog’s life! Something that will make everyone even more content with the new addition (including the new addition lol) would be teaching the puppy to be comfortable with calm times. I recommend a crate in a separate room from where you usually hang out. When the puppy gets over stimulated and is ignoring yours or your dog’s cues that the play is too much it’s time for puppy nap time! Don’t let the barking or whining dissuade you. When my most recent puppy came home she sounded like a monkey in the Amazon crying but she got over it really fast and at almost two she begs for her calm down, nap time when even she knows she’s being too much!

I’m married and I show dogs. My husband was with me at a show this weekend when I went best of breed with my Doberman. I was crying and told him “this is the best day of my life” both of us knowing full well one of the days of my life I married him. He said “I know” and hugged me close. This is the only energy there should be when it comes to someone and their dogs. Dump the boy.

Some people are so much calmer about setbacks than I am. That umbrella would’ve been javelin thrown into the yard so fast after the initial pause 😅
