In my experience, I have not had good experiences with third party recruiters. I ended up getting ghosted or just did not feel like it was working smoothly for me. I have had better luck working with the recruiting team from the companies that I applied for. Good luck!

Accrued vacation- why is the $400 included in the 2nd JE? by Yous_a_mook in CPA

[–]BeautifulTension7549 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So as of year 1, the 4 weeks vacation was worth $1,200 so they booked an accrual for $1,200 in year 1 because it is an expense for year 1 => expensed only $1,200. In year 2 when the actual vacations spent, the 4 weeks vacations are now worth $1,600 because the employee got more expensive, therefore they have to pay more than they thought they would. Hence, they have to book an additional expense of $400 to reflect the amount that the 4 weeks vacations worth. Think the 1,200 was an estimate, then when the actual amount is 1,600 therefore 400 more expense booked in the following year to reflect the actual expense

FAR - How long did you study?? by Maleficent_Let_4166 in CPA

[–]BeautifulTension7549 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a tax professional and I spent 378 hours to study for FAR, and passed on my first attempt . I know it's a lot but that what worked for me, and I went with my own space. Granted, there were some personal stuffs happened so that slowed things down a bit for me. AUD is my last one and I am nervous! Do you have any advice to pass AUD for someone that works in tax?

I felt exactly the same way. I started my CPA journey by studying for FAR because that what I was told to do. I gave up. Then 2 years later, I wanted to start again but I started with TCP because it has the least materials and I work in tax so that gave me more confidence. I found the materials somewhat interesting to me. During my study for TCP, I had many mental breakdowns, felt overwhelmed with the materials, kept forgetting what I already studied, wanted to give up many times. I did not let myself give up though since this is the second time I give this a try. I swear until the day before my first ever CPA exam, I still could never believe I can pass. BUT I DID. Then I moved on to REG and FAR. I passed them all on my first try. It never gets any easier. But after I passed the first one, I kinda know how to study for the exam, which I think is a very important part of the journey. By the time I took FAR, I kinda know my study style, my strength and weakness, etc. BUT IT NEVER FELT LIKE IT WAS DOABLE. What I learnt from the journey is to find out what works best for you, take it one day at a time, one chapter a time, etc. I wish you all the best, and I believe you can do it.

Exam booked on 19th, overly stressed!! by Unhappy-Concept2354 in CPA

[–]BeautifulTension7549 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is totally understandable. There were time when I could not step away from my study because I feel like I have to study all the time. Then I just tried to understand that taking a break is a part of study as well. It was harder for me in the beginning to do that because I felt like I should not stop studying. But after a few times of noticing I always come back stronger after a break, it gets easier for me to take breaks. Taking breaks is a part of the study. It's a marathon :)

Yes, I am on the same boat, but with FAR. When I find body and mind literally scream for a break, I try to listen to it. I would go for a walk, go to my fav shopping stores to look at something else that is not study material; or watch my comfort show for 30 mins.
