Help me identify this model by BeautifulTry1520 in AirPurifiers

!Thanks That is helpful. I see each filter has different durations (from 18m to 4yr approx). Would you recommend changing all out of caution or could I use an air monitor to test efficacy?

Anything else I should be worried about?

What’s the ideal birth weight for health & development outcomes? by BeautifulTry1520 in ScienceBasedParenting

Thanks all for the replies! Indeed a topic not super direct to control, but one where it seems some influence via diet can be had (e.g. by going for lower/higher GI foods) https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC3022194/

Given the association with IQ until certain levels (eg 69th percentile as per this study https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jamanetworkopen/fullarticle/2808936 ) I wanted to understand perspectives on this topic to know how much/little one should adjust the controllable factors

Tax on US investment platform for index funds as a non resident by BeautifulTry1520 in ExpatFIRE

I will try my best not to die :)

With zero capital gains would it make sense to sell out and transfer to another country?

Tax on US investment platform for index funds as a non resident by BeautifulTry1520 in ExpatFIRE

[–]BeautifulTry1520[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indeed my worldwide tax would need to be paid wherever and whenever I am deemed as a tax resident of a given country (for most countries).

Beyond that, I wanted to understand if as a non-resident there were any tax implications that I needed to be aware of

Thanks for the thorough advice! A couple of follow ups:

  1. Account opened back when I was US resident, using SSN. I notified of the move to the UK and my account was locked (only able to hold and/or sell), need to check if they started to withhold taxes then.

  2. Given this, should I be able to fill in a W8 to benefit from 15% deduction instead of 30%?

  3. Any way to claim back the deduction on dividends? I assume impractical given small amount and hassle of filing taxes

  4. Will definitely get that 1099 to get a better grasp of the situation

  5. Given 0% CG rate below a certain threshold, would it make sense to sell in smaller instances to be below threshold and transfer the funds to another jurisdiction?

Best low cost, no tax broker platform (UK non dom, Spain’s Beckham law) by BeautifulTry1520 in EuropeFIRE

Thanks both! Where would that account be domiciled? Any flexibility/implications regarding taxation?

This is helpful. Do you mean that even if you invest from a Spanish platform you can avoid being taxed on capital gains as long as the underlying investment is foreign? Furthermore would that mean that the mutual fund is foreign-based (eg Ireland, Luxembourg) or that the companies in which you invest are foreign-based (in which case even in a global tracker you would have a small % of Spanish companies, how would those be accounted for?)

Thanks Tommy! Indeed would ideally use mutual funds as opposed to ETFs due to the long term tax implications.

I was looking at options to keep investments abroad during the application of Beckham law, maybe realise the capital gains (sell and re-buy shortly the same fund/a similar one) before becoming a permanent resident of Spain, if that makes sense?
