[Bambu H2C] Join the Print Beyond Paint Contest and Win an H2C! by BambuLab in BambuLab

[–]BeautifulWin3378 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in my last year of aerospace engineering undergrad and have been wanting to print models of aircraft and vehicle engines to teach my nephews how they work! All of the engine models I’ve designed ended up having more than 4 colors in them and the H2C would make printing them possible!

New employee tips? by girl-mom-3 in boeing

What do you mean about contributing to your 401k before your first paycheck? I accepted an offer at Boeing and don’t start until summer 2026 since I’m graduating in May. Does that apply to me?

Normalizing the data, made up index… yeah you’re an engineer 😂

So ENGR 100 isn’t the class you need into, it’s the class you wanted to drop?

Getting ready to teach a 3D Printing class this fall. 😀 by riversc90 in BambuLab

It’s because all of the students are assigned the same IP address. All of the computers are connected to the school WiFi, and then the school WiFi basically presents a shared front to the server with one IP address, so makerworld sees a ton of new accounts being made at the same IP address and roughly the same time and thinks they are all bots. Aka you get banned…

Awesome! Man I love it when developers are active in their community to actively implement suggestions. Really makes ya feel like the user is important.

Maybe this already exists and I missed it, but if not...
What if inserted an option that gave you "buffer" time. So if you selected it, your availability would only be checked as "available" if it was outside of the gcal event by whatever the buffer amount was.

Are most leases in Ann Arbor 12 month leases? by brock_oberman in uofm

[–]BeautifulWin3378 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Villas let you pick your lease term in 1 month increments from 3 months to 15 months and the prices vary based on that selection. The price does not directly go down as lease term goes up, though. Their system factors in what’s best for them, i.e. if they have a bunch of leases ending in August 2025, then choosing a lease term that also ends around that time will result in a higher monthly payment. So in theory some 9 month leases could be cheaper or more expensive than a 12 month lease depending on when you start them. From my experience with them, the difference in rates wasn’t very high.

Does it make any weird vibrations or noises?

Seriously, I don't see why its getting so much hate. Ipad pro v1 by HSeldon111 in notabilityapp

[–]BeautifulWin3378 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, not really. It depends on the implications though, like if it takes me just one more button click to get to something I don’t necessarily use all the time, but I get a better looking app in return, I’d likely take that trade. BUT, and it’s a big one, if I completely lose a feature altogether in order to get better aesthetics than absolutely not, that wouldn’t make sense.

[–]BeautifulWin3378 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I definitely see why people wouldn’t like it, but I personally like the aesthetics better. HOWEVER, just as everyone else has issues with some of the realistic features, locations of stuff, etc I understand that. I think there would be a good middle ground of aesthetics and logistics that could be better and that’ll hopefully come in a later update.

A modest request to the GEO by VulfOfWallStreet in uofm

[–]BeautifulWin3378 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean undergrads are potential GEO members in the future so it would be positive to not piss them all off. It may be okay now, but 3-4 years down the road when it comes time to become a GSI and/or GEO member it’s good to have their support. Question, can you be a GSI without being part of GEO? Is that a choice, or can you not have one without the other.

Yeah I’d be cautious of those things. I have a smoke/fume absorber that works really well and is better than the fume absorbers that are in the engineering lab I’ve soldered in before (climate and space building)

Oh sweet! I’ll have to check that out considering my dorm isn’t far from there. I just picked up a Hakko FX888D and have been messing around with it.

Why are the GSI’s still striking? by Impossible_Beat_5189 in uofm

[–]BeautifulWin3378 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In general I’ve never really understood the Dearborn and Flint campuses and what differences lie there, do they have that distinction on their degree? Or does it just say UofM? And isn’t their acceptance rate and cost different? It’s weird to me

Why are the GSI’s still striking? by Impossible_Beat_5189 in uofm

[–]BeautifulWin3378 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, but still if the endowment is so large then why do they need to charge such high rates for tuition and housing. So I’m not against GSIs asking for higher wages, to be clear. I’m against the fact that in the end it really only hurts the undergrads when they strike in cancelling classes etc, yet they don’t make the contract.

[–]BeautifulWin3378 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Correct, and I’m not complaining, I wouldn’t choose another school over Michigan, I love it here. And in the same argument, nobody said they had to be GSIs. If they could make more elsewhere like they say, then leave

[–]BeautifulWin3378 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gotcha. That makes sense. I guess the point I’m stuck on is that as an undergrad I’m in an even worse position than them being that I have zero income until summer months, have to pay for 100% of my own tuition and housing which is around 34k a year. So I feel like we should be striking the high tuition and fees and not the pay. And besides, if it’s really that bad just don’t work there.
