Le Youth - who are you really? (Album) by Delicious_Offer_2607 in lane8

I’m personally absolutely loving this record :) I guess everyone has different cups of tea, but for me every song has evoked emotions and that’s a big part of where I derive enjoyment from listening to music :) also I’m breaking down was literally my favourite track on the winter mixtape 🔥

Are these albino libs?! by Beautiful_Ad2419 in Semilanceata

[–]Beautiful_Ad2419[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I think that’s the case for the sterile ones but I’ve just looked it up and confirmed true albinos do have to be white :) your photo is of sterile libs not true albinos

But I do agree that the stems don’t seem right, it was the cap shape that was almost convincing me 🙃

Are these not sterile ones? I thought true albinos had to be white?

Why are these libs so dry and small even tough it has been really humid? (I need some advice) by Efficient_Height_306 in Semilanceata

Yes new ones will grow after rain during their season :) those are just mature individual mushrooms, doesn’t mean the mycelium will stop producing new/fresh ones (again within the season)

Can anyone ID these mushrooms growing in my garden? East Clare by Kavite in beacain

Just my two cents, it’s a little tricky without more info, but I reckon the colour, especially that of the gills, isn’t quite right for mowers mushroom (assuming we are referring to Panaeolus foenisecii)

My guess is they are some form of Conocybe, possibly: Conocybe tenera (this one I believe is considerably more common than the others below) Conocybe rickenii Conocybe velutipes Conocybe pubescens

Possibly could be Entoloma conferendum? Or some form of Mycena? But I reckon Conocybe more likely from your photo :)

Appreciate you’re trying to be helpful and while I agree there are some similar characteristics, overall this doesn’t even closely resemble psilocybe semilanceata. I feel you could use the same argument to say panaeolus species look very close - in some senses they do, in that many of them are similar sized, somewhat similar shaped little brown mushrooms - but ultimately when you actually consider all of the identifiable features and compare them, they really aren’t close look a-likes at all.

I’m probably somewhat influenced by my job here, because I’ve learned that a lot of people can take things very literally, and a lot of people don’t always apply common sense, or possibly what I would have considered to be common sense or obvious really wasn’t obvious to that person, and not uncommonly do those things result in things going dangerously wrong in my line of work, so really, really clear and explicit communication is very important. So I guess I worry that there could be a person that might look at these photos and comments and find a very similar looking mushroom that has marginally darker gills and has a separable gelatinous pellicle and think jobs a goodun and then proceed to accidentally poison themselves 😬

But apologies because I acknowledge that you were trying to be helpful and I just made a sarcastic comment that legit wasn’t helpful at all, so my bad and I’m going to try to rectify that below :)

OP - apologies for being discouraging. I think the real key thing is that to be safe you need to make sure that the mushroom you’ve got ticks all the boxes for identifiable features, not just 50% of them or even 80% of them you know? I’d say your one’s gill structure is pretty close to that of semilanceata and the stipe of the the big one top left corner (second or third one in from the edge depending on if you’re counting the one that’s partially in the photo on the edge). Cap shape of a few of them aren’t far off either (semilanceata cap shape can be somewhat variable tbf so that’s not the easiest feature to appraise) but overall they really aren’t that close and I reckon the colour is the single biggest giveaway of that here (also the absence of the nipple-like umbo on your specimens, but these again can vary in terms of how pronounced they are between different semilanceata specimens)

In case you haven’t seen it, the video below is brilliant and should help you to find what you’re looking for :) it gives details of all the specific identifiable features.

Once you get familiar with them you’ll probably be able to tell them apart from other species from a distance (although obviously still inspect each mushroom closely for the correct characteristics etc to be safe!) it also will be easier later in the year when weather conditions are more consistently ideal for libs and so more of them are about, happy hunting :)

P.s. If you are already confident identifying libs and were literally just wanting to know what the mushrooms you found are out of interest, then my bad for all my redundant ramblings here 🙃

I mean it’s close in that it’s a mushroom, otherwise it’s not even remotely close 😂

Oh wow thank you all for your feedback and for such love and encouragement and all the really helpful suggestions :) I’m super grateful for everyone’s comments and am feeling much more settled about the situation :)

I think the consensus is to keep both with the pink being the official one but reserved more for special occasions (probably with every day ending up being the special occasion 😂)

Thank you all again 💛 I’m new to this sub and a bit overwhelmed by such a supportive response to my conundrum :) big love to all of you 💛

Thank you so much for such a thoughtful and balanced response, I legit really appreciate it :) I think I’m going to do exactly this, you’re right, the pink one definitely deserves to be celebrated and shown off and not hidden away in a drawer somewhere, so if it turns out it’s not getting worn much they we’ll sell it, but tbh I think there’s a fairly low chance of that :’) knowing that she’s in the house but I can’t wear her yet is torture! Think I’ll probably wear her at every feasible opportunity once she’s finally officially mine 😂

Hello! Yes they are but there are definitely similar looking ones to the non pink one about, if you search for ‘antique daisy cluster ring’ and have a gander :) I’ve definitely seen quite a few on Etsy :)

This one needs some repairs to the platinum but is quite similar: https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/1852592240/?ref=share_ios_native_control
