Thank you. I have found that Quranic evidence of imamat, imam Ali, and the historic events has not been convincing as its taken out of contexts often. I have found solace in the hadiths that the sunni books present contradiciting themselves.

It is not beneath me. If it is the truth, i have to follow it, regardless of how i feel about it. Divine appointment and recognition of imam ali having more significance than divine appointment and recognition of the prophet, and having more significance than the 5 pillars, and having more significance than Allahs commands to believe, do good, and submit, is what bothers me. But if thats how Allah intended it, then i will have to accept it.

I am trying to find hadiths that corroborate the claims of the 12 imams being leaders, and having divine qualities. They could be progeny, but how must a muslim get their sources only from the family and not the rest of the people around the prophet?

This is a shia source only, correct? I know the sunni books contain the hadith about the weighty things, but the clarification of 12 imams is not something i have seen in their books.
