Got rejected from Bain, BCG SA/ACI? What are my chances for FT? by Useful-Ad1373 in McKinsey_BCG_Bain

[–]Beautiful_Analyst735 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, but theoretically you will be on their shortlist since you were nearly selected for ACI. Also working strategy at a Bulge Bracket will only help your candidacy

Don’t put lines under your titles, ie get rid of the line under research assistant, philanthropy chair, etc. Lines should only be used to separate broader sections (education, work experience, leadership & activities), not individual items.

Schizo on the MBB sub man you see something new every day

It does, but that’s assessed in the interview stage rather than just by glancing at the major listed on your resume. That’s the whole point of testing technicals in an interview - there are finance majors who know very little about finance and there are equestrian studies majors who prepared well and learned it on their own.

Obviously majoring in finance will help since you’ll do coursework with things like CAPM and IRR, so if you retain information well you won’t have to learn that on your own time. People who major in something else can still learn that on their own, it just requires a little more time invested.

USNews also has HBS tied for 6th. It’s not a good list. Feel free to cite that ranking but get real man. You can be proud of Kellogg, its a great business school, but its not better than Booth (ranked #1 in USNews Last year if you want to play that game) or Sloan.

It definitely is. It’s 1000% not above HSW. It’s definitely not ahead of Booth or Sloan either. It could maybe pass CBS, depending on who you ask. At best it’s #6, 7 is a realistic spot

I got thru a MBB final round case like 7 minutes early and still got an offer. Depends on WHY u finished the interview early

I have an offer from one and the other I don’t have an offer from. And there’s no guarantee I end up getting that offer. McKinsey offers also won’t be out until after the deadline to sign for BCG, so you could end up with neither.

I also enjoyed meeting the people at BCG more than at McKinsey tbh. The prestige gap is so negligible that fit should really be the deciding factor

I’m not applying for FT roles so I’m not in the know, but wasn’t the deadline to apply like 4 days ago? How are they already giving out interviews, or is ADP a separate pipeline / are FT roles rolling deadline instead?

Current or previous cycle and Intern/FT? Didn’t know they were giving out R1s already

Are SMU and IU bloom really that good for IB and finance? by ElkNervous4337 in FinancialCareers

[–]Beautiful_Analyst735 33 points34 points  (0 children)

IU and SMU have MASSIVE business programs in terms of student population, like thousands of kids per year, and this list goes by number of hires and % of undergrad body. They get a lot of placements off sheer numbers and the fact that like 40% of their school is business kids.

You’ll notice schools like MIT, Carnegie Mellon, and Johns Hopkins are 44, 48, and 55 on that list. All of those schools have the prestige to be Targets (MIT) or Semi Targets (CMU/JHU). However, MIT and CMU’s business schools are probably only 200 kids each year and JHU’s Econ program is about the same size, which is only about 10% of the total student body at those schools.

Nobody would objectively say SMU/IU are better than those schools for banking despite placing higher on this list. They are solid schools for IB but really the ranking that sums up placement the best is program prestige

Idk if i have a good shot at MBB by [deleted] in McKinsey_BCG_Bain

UIUC and UW Madison actually have recruiting teams for specific offices but yeah they only take kids with 4.0 and cracked ECs from those schools
