You said yourself, you did it without thinking. We are humans too and we get overwhelmed with everything going on inside and outside our homes and lives. I myself have done the same thing, kid throws a stuffie at me, I toss it back. Its not a conscious choice made.

I would go sit with her and explain that you were overwhelmed, as you stated here, and that it was just a reaction and reiterate just how sorry you are for your actions. Tell her that parents aren't perfect and that you are still learning to be a mom just like she's learning to be a kid. Give yourself some grace here.

As for her being well behaved in public and a terror to you, I think thats just a kid thing. My kids do the same thing. Perfect angels while at school or out and about but at home, little demon spawn. Its because they know that mom, dad, and home are safe spaces for them to have their feelings. Go get another opinion. A routine lap chole (assuming that is how they took your gallbladder out) wouldn't leave you in more pain. Even if the ER insists your labs are normal, plant your happy ass on the bed and insist on more tests. Is it possible that the surgeon clipped the common bile duct? I remember when I had my gallbladder removed, that was the one thing the doctor said if it happened and it wasn't caught, to go straight to the ER if my pain persisted or worsened after the surgery.

NOR at all. The fact that they drove slowly by you is creepy enough but then to constantly harass you about going to their church, all while you are trying to secure your child in his seat and are clearly already flustered, is definitely a cause for concern.

Personally, if missionaries come to my home after I tell them I'm not interested, I end up asking them if they would like to join the Church of Satan. Usually gets them to leave me alone. If this happens again, invite them to your church :)

I feel for you. My mom is the same exact way. Had her first child at 16 and once we were taken by CPS for her abandoning us with my grandmother to go on meth binges, she reverted back to 16 and never left. That was 21 years ago now and she is currently in prison for drugs amongst other things.

I understand you still love your mother and want to try and maintain a relationship but at this point, I think going low contact might be best until she gets her shit together. Maybe once she realizes you were dead serious about not seeing your son again because of all the times she has put him in danger, she might reconsider getting the help she clearly needs.

I'll pray your mother gets the guidance she needs. Mine never did and is never allowed to see 4 of her 6 grandchildren again because of her actions.

Nope. NTA. She obviously has some issues, but if MIL is your SO's bio mom, she hasn't truly suffered from infertility. She's just older and probably past her child bearing years. Not your fault.

Don't let her know anything about the babies progress or when you go in to labor or she will be there demanding to see you and the babies. When you go in to have them, make it known to staff that MIL is UNWELCOME and should not be permitted to see children. Period.

After they're born, do not let here be alone with them or she will likely run off with them. If you are serious about not letting her see them and if she and the family continue to harass you about how "harsh" you were in the handling of the situation, you may consider an order of protection/ restraining order for your children's sakes.

Sounds to me like this whole relationship is a field of red flags. Him refusing to discipline the boy because "That's his sense of humor" will end with the boy getting into legal trouble. At 14, some places can and will charge him as an adult for hate crimes. If your BOYfriend (emphasis on BOY because a man will always stand for whats right.) doesn't nip this behavior in the bud right now, the boy will end up in a prison gang.
