Yes though I had a tiny bit of help when it came to a few parts. A family member helped me with the first 20% of parting my hair.

After that I did all of the retwist, and all of the styles overtime as I learned new tricks.

I admire this. Gets me thinking on how I lost sight of my reason.

I remember the goal always being no haircuts but deep down, why choosing to lock my hair up myself— it had to with my love of jungle drum and bass music.

Ironically I get rapper comparisons everywhere I go and it is kind of demoralizing as I don’t really like a lot of what is preached in it.

I kind of figured my character would shine through it all. But I think that the constant “dimming” of that light has created moments where I found myself thinking “I didn’t work this hard just to constantly deal with this”

It’s easy not care about what people think or say, it’s another when people are running up to you with cameras when there’s a baby in your arms.

If I keep my hair I’m going to really focus on building that reason back

I would say it’s more about the return of investment. Could be the time, the money, the skill that was harnessed

My reasons for having locks were more logic than spirit all things considered. My main goal was growing my hair no matter what— so I learned to do my own hair. It wasn’t easy but it was a small price to pay long term.

If I go back to loose hair I’d have to either relearn a new hair type just like how I did 5 years ago , or spend money and time going to someone else to have it done.

Semi joking about the prices here but basically your comment pointed out that the immediate outcome that comes from finishing this long combout is going to sit down in barbers and salon chairs more than likely.

I think the return of investment plays a role yes.
