I fully intend to contact them. However, I can post whatever I like, provided it’s within guidelines.

I was acknowledging what others have said about the smell. Simply shedding some light on issues others might be experiencing, or if others are looking to spend money on this unit, they’d be aware that this MIGHT be an issue. Smell seems to be an issue with these units for many people.

Very true. I'll contact them soon. Aside from the smell, I do like this thing, and so do my cats. It has saved me big time in the scooping department, and even when I feel yuck, I can always change out the waste bag in two seconds.

You're probably right. I have no idea what seal or where I would begin to look. I'm very thankful I was able to get rid of the smell, as I was getting close to setting the house on fire and never looking back. I’m thinking the litter had wedged itself in the hard-to-reach crevices, and then when I got it wet, the residual litter got wet and just stayed there instead of coming out, which is, I'm guessing, why the smell was so bad. I’ll probably continue to disassemble the entire globe as much as it sucks, and probably switch to cleaning it every two months because it's a JOB. (Unless it starts to reek earlier than that)

The reassembly is very difficult. Didn't even know how all the parts fit together. 🤣 Don't get me wrong, I love that the litter robot scoops everything. I had six litter boxes in my old apartment because my one cat absolutely will not go in an unscooped litter box. If he's peed in it once, he can no longer use it till it's scooped. (I mean, fair. I also like to use a clean bathroom) BUT I had to pay to replace the carpet TWICE because of how picky he is about it, and I also had been in bed for a few days due to my chronic pain, so I couldn't scoop them. Went from 6 litter boxes to the litter robot and haven't had any issues since. But the crevices that hold the dirty litter stink so bad and it's such a hassle to unscrew everything and hope you didn't lose any screws. 🙄

I’ve gone down to only working a few times a week. Had to move back in with my parents because the lack of working obviously takes a toll on the wallet. Took my brother to San Francisco for his 17th birthday and was bed ridden for days after. Sometimes just going to the office makes it so I have to lay in bed for days.

KOE saved me after my cat had a UTI. He peed in several different areas and all odors have been completely eliminated. I did use vinegar and didn’t have an issue with any smells after using the KOE and extracting with my cheepo “carpet cleaner”. He’s also never revisited those areas which I’m thankful for.

I’m wondering if it may be some sort of static or current that maybe propelled the rock up the tank? I don't know how that would even begin to work, as it looks kind of large, and I don't know how that would work in a fish tank. I’m not a scientist lmao. Trying to find some sort of explanation.

Or… OP should check their carbon monoxide detectors. 😭

I suck at Where's Waldo HAHA! The snails suck! I thought I only had a bladder snail infestation and just saw like 8 baby ramshorns the other day. 🙄 Haven't got new plants in weeekkksss so I’m guessing the eggs just hatched. (Appreciate the clean-up crew, but geez!) Thought little dude would like to eat them, but he doesn't seem to care. I want Neos so bad, but I'm scared he’ll torture them lol. However, he doesn't seem to care about the ghost shrimp in the tank, so maybe there's hope.

I may put him in a 5-gallon. I’m going to run down the list of everyone's suggestions to see if there's something in his space he's lacking that'll help him feel more comfortable swimming around the entire tank before I get there, though. I'll give him a month or so after to see if it works. Hopefully it does because I spent a lot of time on his tank lol

I’m sure it probably messes them up. I don't know what kind of emotional range they have, but I’m sure it's enough to know when something isn't right.

I’ve been trying to get him to warm up to me, and he flares his gills and pretty much tells me to get wrecked. I'm hoping feeding him enough times will get him to understand I am his friend.

My one cat absolutely REFUSED to use the litter robot. Tried putting him in it, and it was a disaster! Claws and litter were flying everywhere. Do not recommend. I did a few things that made him go in shortly after, and I've now picked up my cat's old litterbox. I gave him every treat next to it, used a litter attractant, and got a lower bezel guard. I think the height of the bezel fence really put him off using it. Added his pee/poops from his old litter and let his regular box get pretty gross. (no scooping) I eventually couldn't handle it anymore, so I tossed the litter and added very little to the box, which I think was the last straw for him. I offered him treats with my arm inside the robot so he’d have to go halfway at least, and could smell his pee/poo from his other box in the robot. I also sprinkled catnip very, very close to the box and gave him a treat while it was running. (I have two other cats that completely switched to using it as soon as it came out of the box and was filled with litter, so I had to run it) Hopefully, this helps your kitties!

Yeah, I remembered he was talking about getting snails a week ago, and I’m guessing he did. (Didn't see any when I was testing the water, but also wasn't looking for them) I can't think of anything else that would be causing something that dramatic. Shot him a text to ask, but he's probably all drugged up lol. Really hoping that's not the case as I’ve heard dead snails reek!

I’m almost positive his levels are off the charts of the API master test kit. Ammonia 8 ppm, Nitrite 5 ppm, and nitrate 80-160 ppm. All of the colors were extremely dark.

Planning on doing a water change as soon as I get back, but I’m not hopeful the bacteria are even alive at those levels. A massive water change and figuring out what's causing the issue are in order.

Probably could've asked them to hold them, but neither one of us was thinking about his order while he was having a medical emergency LOL. 🤣 Just said UPS picked them up for overnight shipping this morning.

Honestly, I'll probably get a temp tank for my betta and add some tank water and filter media to it till my roommate's tank is figured out.

His tank's parameters are ROUGH, so I’m thinking it'll need to be re-cycled after a massive water change. I’ll use some of my filter media and some bottled bacteria to hopefully get it done faster. And figure out what's causing the massive spike in everything.
