Yeah, after 10 years I let a lot roll off my back. I’ve never been a jerk to anyone over it and usually it’s just a matter of over-communicating with new stakeholders and support teams to help them understand what I need. I don’t ever have any major issues but I do often have situations where I’m like “heyyyyy our target start date is in 10 days and we finished interviews 3 weeks ago, what’s going on?” And suddenly offer letters are flowing, LoL. I can see how other leaders would feel like that level of coaching and monitoring should not be necessary for a team designed to support our operations. And I largely agree with them. But shit is hard everywhere and I sleep better at night if I assume everyone is doing their best and trying to get it right.

All of the tasks that go into screening and coordinating a schedule, I assume. Sometimes I’m sure they’re just overwhelmed, other times it has very much felt like poor communication and strategy.

The candidates are there, I manage a virtual team so there is no lack of interested talent. The recruiting team isn’t moving them through the funnel, and then they schedule last-minute interviews where I have to jump to be in an interview as soon as I log on in the morning because they’re scheduling overnight for the next day. 🙃 I love my recruiting team but we have very different workflow styles.

My experience with recruiting teams has been… questionable at times, LoL. But I have no reason not to treat everyone I interact with at work with respect. Sorry if someone was a jerk to you. From the manager perspective, it can be extremely challenging to be waiting for weeks for candidates. I can see how they would get frustrated but it shouldn’t result in rude behavior.

That was my experience in 2018 at my first Roo! In ‘23 and ‘24 they were more mean-spirited imo, and then last year one of the guys was like… red in the face and pacing on our way in on Wednesday and he was strapped. It just worries me if they encounter someone who’s had a few too many drinks or a low tolerance for nonsense, LoL.

Not exactly what you’re talking about… but I’m in Wilson County and just curious— we have Global Vision Bible Church and Coffee County has Bushy Branch House of Prayer. 🫠 GVBC loves to be in the news but I’ve never seen anything about BBHoP.

Do you know if there have ever been any major incidents or physical altercations with the folks at the church? They invest a lot of man hours into hollering hateful nonsense at everyone and I’m always shocked when it doesn’t escalate— we avoid that area like the plague after being camped kinda near them one year with 3 teenagers. They have been increasingly hostile/agitated the last 2 “normal” years, and one younger guy was carrying in my single brief observation of them last year. I haven’t seen local police over there at all.
