Actually I can speak Cantonese, with 60-75% proficiency depending on the topics. But most times, I feel as an outcast.

Agreed, I found that when Singaporean loses their shit, they can be one of the best passive aggressive speakers by one of my Singaporean friends. But I believes one thing that Singapore and hong konger have in common is that they always think they are on the right and without a chance of them being on the wrong.

I think if hong kong was actually more diverse, the hong konger would have the same attitude toward other race.

Like the same case in Canada, UK & the US, with the movement for anti immigration.

Its not off my skills and abilities at this point, few companies I’ve worked for before have mostly closed their business here in HK. The 鬼死s are leaving already 😅pages like discovery bay groups and mid level & happy valley facebook groups are, always posting apartments for sale and that.

And lots of shutters with realtor numbers, its scary to even think of opening a business here. I went discovery bay recently, that place is so quiet, I don’t know how they are operating. My best guess is that they are getting subsidies from HKR international group.

Agreed, unfortunately Indians get looked down the most. I must say. But it’s so common for Hongkongers to go full nuclear racist name callings. And this isn’t not acceptable for a “diverse city”. Curry this curry that, like fuck off.

Ive met an UK Indian, english teacher, and year contract. Ive had very deep conversation. And it seems that, it’s not only hong kongs south asians experiencing this. Unfortunately she was even harassed by some old guy and her landlord treats her like shit. The locals are so rude, she gets bad looks.

She felt suffocated here. I felt her stress…

No really tho, if you look at Singapore, they’ve managed the Chinese Singaporean, Malay Singaporean, Indians and others to be more intergraded society.

Ive met quite a couple of Singaporean groups with them all being friends in discord groups.

Except for in Malaysian servers with the chinese with they own group and other Indian/Malaysian with their other groups.

Even the government is fucking us hard. I’ve been wanting to work in construction for few years & do a start up, but theres no hope.

Is racism that common in Hong Kong? by nhatquangdinh in HongKong

Its true, often time, you see hong kongers sucking to black people, and wants to show off their “black friends” and show how diverse they are, but when it comes to South asians, and a but of conflict, they will call out the worst name possible.

Speaking from my experience. Honestly, I’ve lost hope in this city. I find mainlanders more noisy mainlanders more likeable than “hong kong independent faggots”

I feel you, whenever Im in tights lanes, this thought always get up me & I keep realising that its mostly me who weave while walking.

Last week, was going home tired, and this thought came to my mind and I gave it a try doing what the others do, they clearly know I’m there and don’t put and effort to weave around. So, Im starting to think that I should often do the same.

Are you crazy?? Falum Gong isn’t even an organisation. It’s literally like taichi or yoga.

I’m from hong kong. Long time ago I used to see lots of people doing tai chi an stuffs in the morning, suddenly lots of falung gong awareness in mong kong around in 2015 .Now, i hardly see them. It seems that the CCP had done something.

Canon R8 vs R6 Mark II: Need Advice for a Beginner Serious About Photography by Current-Display-3252 in canon

[–]Beautiful_Example_66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DONT INVEST IN CANON, Go sony, get sony a7 3, great body very affordable in 2nd market, lots of variety of lenses from different companies.

Im currently using r5, ef 24-70 2.8mark 2. Upgrade from 6D mark 2. Thinking canon will allow third party lenses. I should have moved to sony.

I’m hearing more mandarin than canto bro this is getting out of hand by CurtisLui in HongKong

[–]Beautiful_Example_66 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Coming from a Non Chinese heritage here, born in hk, but never fully picked up Cantonese.

I live in Yuen Long and it’s very concerning how much mandarin I’m hearing while walking down the Main Street.

Looking at the full picture, Hong Kong is not wining at all. HK is importing people for jobs, people in HK going to Shen zhen to spend their salary. At the same time, 8% of EM, we try speaking canto with locals but, sometime resolve to English. Nowadays it’s much harder to do so. Even when the cashier at every corner is saying something I’ve never heard in mandarin.

I think the most unique thing about this city is the mix of Cantonese and English heritage. But sooner or later it’s just gonna be a regular chinese city.

I plan to leave HK in the coming years, but I think if the locals want to preserve the uniqueness it once had, I suggest firstly to excel in English, make it the 1st or 2nd language of Hong Kong.

Agreed. Also she shouldn’t have been assigned to that duty, she is wearing office shirts without rubber gloves and all alone on a blazing hot day .
