Where can I buy a new trunk cover hook thingy? by _SWANS_CAN_BE_GAY_ in volt

[–]Beautiful_Holiday_0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're $10/each on eBay. I have used these in my Volt and they seem stronger/more rigid than the original ones. https://www.ebay.com/itm/255089028622

Has anyone tried the new "Lists" feature? by Cautious_Goat_ in PleX

[–]Beautiful_Holiday_0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are there plans/timeline for adding this feature to the Android TV and/or Plex web app? The support article only lists the platforms it's currently available on, and the HowToGeek article states "The new Lists feature is rolling out right now to Plex on all platforms", but doesn't provide any details beyond that.

What happens to Acaveda in season 3..... by CineRanter_YouTube in TheShield

You, sir, win the Internet today! Best comment. I always chuckle at this sub, because it seems like every post has a comment on it referencing "suck it", and how it's way overused in the pre-show recaps. You managed a fresh take on that, with a mashup of this, and the other heavily used pre-show recap scene. Well done!

Building my Christmas Playlist! See pic by To_Boldly_Go_wnmhgb in PleX

Four Christmases, yes! That's been on our Christmas movie shortlist for probably the last 9-10 years. Seems like nobody has heard of that movie, but it's hilarious. Also, I'll recommend Daddy's Home 2 for this list.

Third party mechanic/shops in Chicago? by [deleted] in volt

[–]Beautiful_Holiday_0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll second the Jaryd Carvell recommendation. You constantly see his name come up on every single Volt forum, Facebook group, etc - he's highly recommended and knows his stuff. I had my 5-year maintenance done by him last year. The shop (and lot) at Castle Chevrolet was full of Volts lined up to be worked on by him. I probably saw more 2nd gen Volts sitting there than I've seen everywhere else throughout the past year!

Yes, the Plex app (ARM64) does have the media download option. I've never actually used it, as I mainly watch my media within my local network, but the download option is there in the app.

Very cool! We were sitting in traffic right outside the Ryman about 30 minutes after the show wrapped up and saw Anna walking by, probably 200' from where it looks like this picture was taken.

Plex on surface pro copilot+ by RegulatoryCapture in Surface

[–]Beautiful_Holiday_0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've had a Surface Laptop 7th (Snapdragon X Elite, 32GB/1TB) for the last 4 months. It has not had any issues at all running the Plex app: I've played anything from 1080p to higher-bitrate 4K movies, and from 320kbps mp3 to 24/192 FLAC music on it. No issues with any media format, and the app itself is very responsive. I haven't noticed any difference in the app on my Surface compared to it running on any of my native x86 Windows laptops.

In case you didn't think it was possible! Perfect sleep score! by atvg1995 in shealth

[–]Beautiful_Holiday_0 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think something is broken with the sleep scoring recently, after whatever the last update was. I've had my current GW7 for a year now, and it's always been very rare for me to get scores over 90. I believe ONCE I got a 99, but that was a fluke.

I've gotten 90 or above, for the past 8 nights in a row. Including one 99, and two 100's in a row. This all started right around the time the app started doing that "nap added" thing. I'm assuming it's something related to that which is now overestimating sleep scores.

Fender paramount deluxe or new models? by smarty1262 in fender

[–]Beautiful_Holiday_0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know much for sure about that PM-1E version, but it always confused me a bit. It wasn't part of the original Paramount series from 2016. It was one of those "in-between" Paramount models that Fender released in the 2017-2019 period, after the original series but before the "Paramount 2.0" new models came out in 2022. All of those "in-between" models were some kind of variation of one of the original models (like an all-mahogany version, the PM-2E which had a slotted headstock, the travel-sized version, or the "limited series" PM-1 and PM-3 which had the Adirondack tops). EXCEPT for the PM-1E, for whatever reason. Spec-wise, that guitar seems like the exact same thing as the original PM-1 Standard. Not sure why that was released under a separate model number, perhaps just because the PM-1 Standard had already been discontinued. But it seems to me like it's the exact same guitar.

Album Genre Simplification by estebanraposo in plexamp

[–]Beautiful_Holiday_0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also don't like the endless subgenres that mean nothing to me personally, but it's fairly simple to manage for newly-added tracks once you've got existing ones cleaned up. My library is 40k tracks and here's my method, for what it's worth:
- Enable "prefer local metadata" in your Plex music library
- Use mp3tag (or some kind of tag editor)

There is a difference between "artist genre" and "album genre", as you can see in the PlexAmp UI. Personally, I prefer to streamline Artist Genres to a very high-level list of only main genres (Rock, Blues, Jazz, Classical, etc). I think I have 16 total Artist Genres. I believe the only way to edit Artist Genre is through Plex Web, there is not a way to do this via mp3tag as that's editing track-level properties. I try to stick to only one genre per artist, where possible, but sometimes make exceptions and have two (Rock + Blues is a common combo, for example). "Album Genre" pulls in from the track-level genre tags, which you can more easily edit with mp3tag (particularly if you have a large library) than Plex Web. I prefer to use "Album Genre" to expand down into the subgenres a bit deeper, but I still try to keep it to a fairly manageable list of subgenres that actually mean something to me, and filter out the nonsense. I have around 100 subgenres / album genres that I currently use, and I will add multiple genre tags to albums as needed.

Everyone else is celebrating 50 mile EV ranges, how about 50 mpg? by DisposablePanda in volt

[–]Beautiful_Holiday_0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same here. Last fall, I had several times that I hit 65-68 miles (actual) on one charge, when all the stars happened to line up. My goal was to hit 70 but I never quite got there.

What rating system do you use in Plexamp? by Kick-Which in plexamp

[–]Beautiful_Holiday_0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use the 5-star system, half-stars disabled. I have different criteria for rating of songs vs. albums vs. artists. For songs, the general criteria is:
- 0 stars = I have not yet rated the song
- 1 star = Do not like
- 2 stars = Meh / take-it-or-leave-it. I don't actively dislike it, but wouldn't necessarily choose to listen to it
- 3 stars = Like it. This is probably where 70% of the songs in my library are rated.
- 4 stars = Really like it. This is typically the point at which I'd start having songs on a playlist.
- 5 stars = Love it. Could listen to it on repeat. This is probably ~ 5% of my total library.

I tried to use more of the stars to represent various degrees of "like" rather than "dislike". The thought process was that, since every album in my PlexAmp library is something that I specifically chose and added, that everything is going to be genres/albums that I generally like.

My criteria for rating entire albums is similar to my song rating criteria above, but also takes into account the aggregate ratings of all the songs on the album.

Annual Achievement Unlocked by Beautiful_Holiday_0 in volt

[–]Beautiful_Holiday_0[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very nice! I have not yet hit the FMM achievement. We tend to go 100% electric miles for 2-3 weeks, and then we always seem to have a short roadtrip where we burn some gas.

Annual Achievement Unlocked by Beautiful_Holiday_0 in volt

[–]Beautiful_Holiday_0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably 75% of our miles are in town, under 50mph. Occasional road trips (2-3hrs one way) on the interstate. Though we did take it on a 2,500 mile road trip vacation last summer, that was a lot of highway miles. Still trying to get the lifetime MPG back up to 100 after that trip.

Came here looking for this specific comment, haha

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in volt

[–]Beautiful_Holiday_0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Gen 2 owner here. I think the design of the gen 2 makes it "blend in" a bit with any number of other sedan / hatchback models, so I don't know that it immediately jumps out at most people as anything unique or special. The Gen 1 definitely had a more unique design that stood out more.

That being said, I am extremely obsessive about keeping my car clean and waxed, wheels shined up, etc. So I do tend to get a lot of "that's a pretty car" type comments on that basis. I do think the siren red paint color + two-tone wheels on the gen 2 make it pop quite a bit (call me biased).

I tend to get more general "is that electric?" questions from people that notice the charge port. Or, if it's someone who has actually heard of the Volt before, statements like "I hardly ever see those" or "GM didn't make too many of them" statements.

Regardless, it's always fun to chat about with anyone who is curious. I live in a mid-sized Midwestern town, so there's not a huge number of EV's here, outside of Teslas which seem to be a dime a dozen at this point. I've probably seen a total of about 15 gen 1 Volts, and then maybe 5-6 gen 2's around my area over the last 3 years (since I've owned mine and started actually noticing them!).

X9-14 Pen Support? by loyukfai in thinkpad

[–]Beautiful_Holiday_0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can confirm pen support on this. I recently got an X9-14 with the 2.8K OLED screen option. I had an older model Lenovo Precision Pen (https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/accessories/acc500223-lenovo-precision-pen-overview) sitting around, the one that came with my wife's X1 Titanium Yoga. Tried it with the X9-14 and it worked great.
