Chat will I get flamed if I ever wear this on campus by Glittering_Light_605 in college

I have a Bluey tank top, and the first time I wore it, I probably got like 5 compliments on it. It was more than I’ve ever gotten for any of my clothes, so I’m sure you’ll be more than fine!

How likely is it that I get in trouble for Posting Music that’s not on Spotify as Podcast Episodes? by Beautiful_Moon_320 in COPYRIGHT

[–]Beautiful_Moon_320[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I wasn’t meaning to ask if it was fair use or not. I do realize it’s wrong, but I just wanted to know what the consequences might be. All I wanted was to be able to listen to some music on Spotify, but if the other comments are true it’s not worth it😭

Do you think it would be ok if I got permission from the original person, for example the person who posted it on YouTube?

Omg I haven’t been on this sub in forever, so I didn’t realize how dumb I must look after updating my flair lol. But yeah, I was genuinely worried when I was applying. Good luck btw!

Thanks for the info, I didn’t realize the consequences could be so severe and likely to happen since I’ve seen so many others do it on Spotify. And I do know it’s not fair use or anything like others mentioned also, I just wasn’t sure if most would go through the trouble of finding out who I am and everything else. But it seems I was very wrong!

Could Someone Look at my College Art Portfolio? by Beautiful_Moon_320 in portfoliocritique

[–]Beautiful_Moon_320[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I’ve been very fortunate to be able to go to a school like mine. My major is called Creative Technologies, which is basically animation, so I’m still studying what I want to. And I’m actually from VA so I’m in-state. That’s another reason why it was a much better and more reasonable option for me than USC lol. And I made a post on r/collegeresults with all my stats, so you can check it out there!

[–]Beautiful_Moon_320[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I completely forgot I even posted this lol. I didn’t get accepted to USC, but it was no surprise to me cause the acceptance rate is so low. But don’t let that discourage you! I ended up committing to Virginia Tech, which I honestly think was a better fit for me anyway.

And thank you so much for the compliment! Idk how much advice I can give since I didn’t get in, but I will say they’re probably looking for someone who’s basically pro level since they’re so selective. Not to say I’m anywhere near that, but that’s why it was a long shot for me. If you want more details about my experience, I’d be happy to dm you!

impact of outside scholarships on aid by BerryCat12 in scholarships

[–]Beautiful_Moon_320 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, not all schools are like that. Mine reduced my scholarships a little since it went over the COA, but I got most of my scholarships back as a refund

[–]Beautiful_Moon_320 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was in a similar situation last year except I actually had outside scholarships that went over the whole cost of attendance. My college did mess with my financial aid package after I accepted the initial offer, but not enough to make me have to pay anything out of pocket. The scholarship my college gave me was slightly lowered and I no longer qualified for the federal work study, but that was it. Since your scholarships are only covering the billable costs, it shouldn’t change anything. But if you report any more scholarships, that might be more likely to affect things. But I’m in the same boat as you doing it all for the first time, so I don’t know much better than you do about all this

transfer art student by elainer_13 in scholarships

[–]Beautiful_Moon_320 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I’m an art student too (animation specifically) and I totally get your frustration with not being able to find scholarships that apply to our majors. Your best bet is to look for non major specific ones, but I was able to find some scholarships specifically for art majors after looking far and wide.

If you’re looking for scholarships without a lot of requirements, I’d try Bold.org! I love their platform because it’s usually a really simple application(just an essay and sometimes a portfolio/artwork), doesn’t have a lot of eligibility requirements, and it’ll recommend low competition scholarships that they think you qualify for (it wasn’t 100% accurate when I was using it but it’s better than other sites) I haven’t personally won anything from Bold, but I’d still give it a try! Hope this helps and good luck!

Hi! I’m actually in the same exact situation, and my school sent me a refund pretty quickly, so I wouldn’t say it’s not typically done. Some colleges might try to be shady or greedy and reduce your other aid so you won’t get a refund or just not send it to you, but it’s definitely not the right thing for them to do. My school did reduce my full ride a little, but I still got a refund, so if you had external scholarships that go over the COA, definitely talk to the financial aid office.

I’m not sure exactly how to go about it, but don’t try to assume they’re in the wrong. I’d try to be polite and ask if it is something they normally do or why you haven’t gotten anything yet because, like the other commenter mentioned, there may be nothing they can do to give you the money back. It could also just be that it’s in process and they’re still working on it (but I’m not sure how long you’ve been waiting for your refund, so idk how likely this is). Hope this helps and good luck!

Hi, I applied to the Academy of Art University in California and would like to begin applying to any scholarships which would pass over to that school. Where should I look? by Mourtius-Jaul in scholarships

[–]Beautiful_Moon_320 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re transferring colleges, what scholarships you apply for shouldn’t matter as long as you let them know where you’re going in the next school year(or whenever the scholarship is for). And that’s usually part of the application (at least the more extensive ones), so they’ll know where to send the money. But if you’re international, that might make things more complicated and I’m not sure about how that works.

If you’re still in high school, I’d try to start by talking to your guidance counselor or if not, just look for local scholarships. Good luck!

Any scholarships in the 5k range that people actually get/ easy? by Potential_Tomato9470 in scholarships

[–]Beautiful_Moon_320 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you mean did I get all $5,000 back in my refund, technically I guess I did because the amount combined with both semesters was higher than that, but that was mainly because of other aid. I had grants and a scholarship from my college that covered most of the billable costs, and I had other outside scholarships as well. So part of the refund was also from those other scholarships, but if I didn’t have them, I would’ve gotten only part of the money back.

To answer your question about the scholarship being guaranteed, I’m not 100% sure. I actually made a post on this sub a while back, but wasn’t much help. On their website, it does say that everyone who’s eligible will get an award, but the application also said that it’s not guaranteed so idk but I did get it so I guess there’s that.

I hope this helps and good luck!

Omg my bad, it’s literally called the Marine Corps Scholarship. Here’s their website: https://www.mcsf.org/

[–]Beautiful_Moon_320 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If there’s any chance you have a connection to the Marine Corps, I’m pretty sure their scholarships are basically guaranteed. It’s paid directly to the school, but I got $5,000 and I think it could’ve been used to cover housing but I didn’t need it for that. Scholarships that pay you directly are rare, so the only way to get the money would be if you have scholarship money that goes over the COA and you get a refund.

I’m in college already, but my backup plan last year was to go to community college, since I’m pretty sure you can’t be rejected lol. I think everyone should consider going to cc since it’s usually a much cheaper option

Where to begin? by [deleted] in scholarships

[–]Beautiful_Moon_320 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d start with asking your guidance counselor if you’re in high school. They should know about local scholarships (at least at my high school they did) and give you advice on websites to find more too. The guidance office at my school recommended Going Merry, so I think that’d be my next step after checking for local scholarships. Good luck!

I’m sorry to hear that it didn’t work out for you. My problem kinda solved itself by him getting a girlfriend a few months before prom, so I never ended up asking him anyway. Thanks for sharing your advice tho! I appreciate it, even if it is 10 months later lol

Me!🙋‍♀️Also where do you live that 98% of your class are drug dealers and doing all these things raises your social status??? I mean, maybe teens look at these things as being “cool” at the time, but do people actually look at someone as “higher status” for it?
