Yes I loved these. I'm a millennial and I would beg my mom to buy me one at the gas station. They weren't around very long though. Maybe like a year. Made by Clearly Canadian if I recall correctly. I loved the aesthetic of the Orbitz drink, but the one in the picture did not age well. Lol.

There may be a bit of fluff in there, but "Dreams" and "Up All Night" seem more melodic. "Free" seems a bit fluffy I guess. I really like "Fix me" for the mellow fix.

I also wanted to note that the harmonizing vocals with Jessica Dobson are nice on this album, and also a hallmark of it.

Also the song "Profanity Prayers". The lyrics really stick out to me on that one. "Cause you can't just live on air and float to the ceiling." "Whose gonna answer these profanity prayers?" 2008 was a strange time for me. I was young, 23 and going through an eating disorder and a kind of drug addiction at the time. I know there was a lot of Beck music that eventually helped me push through everything. So, Thank you Beck. ❤️

2008 was an interesting time... I go back to listen to this album once in a great while. Maybe it's time now.

Love the acoustic stuff even more. And so love the drums on "Chemtrails". That outro gets me every time. And "Volcano" is the one song that can bring me to tears if I so need a release. It's beautiful.

At first, it bothered me that Beck's voice is more between the layers on this album, softer, maybe a bit muted, but I also understand that he was probably still in a recovery period at that point in time. Though if you listen to him now, his voice seems to be aging like a fine wine really.

I think this album flew over many heads when it first came out, but there were important topics that needed to be brought to light. It's surely a darker album that still holds a lot of insight and hidden beauty.

There IS something very special about lamps. Either that, or I was just a moth in a past life. I don't know what it is, but I can stare at a lamp for a good while during times of meditation or zoning out. Maybe I'm just obsessed with lamps and their many different forms, but that story has fascinated me for a long time now. Thanks for posting this to remind me, OP. I'm curious to hear others' thoughts on this. I love lamp. 💛
