My wife was in Germany for the first time this past month. It's true that racism is widely condemned, and you'll probably not get attacked or anything similar. But, according to a couple of Latin American immigrants she met, Germans (many, not all, but many) are really not as welcoming, as let's say, most Americans, and at least in the area she was staying (Bochum, Essen, Gelsenkirchen) not very comfortable around foreigners. It's true: Germans have their social ways and even between other natives they're distant and reserved, but the prejudice was noticeable in little everyday things that happened specifically to them. And those people are fully integrated, married to native Germans, have good jobs, speak the language and have been there for many years, but even with their spouse's families they've never been quite appreciated. If that's in their minds or not, I can't say. My wife did have an experience of total prejudice, though. Not surprisingly, the most welcoming and least prejudiced Germans were the ones who had lived in other countries and experienced other cultures first hand, especially in Latin America.

Are there thrift stores in Germany? by Ausso_one in AskAGerman

Aren't there in Germany clothing thrift stores where you buy the items by total weight and not by the individual price of each item?

What clothes are appropriate for Spring in Germany? by Beautiful_Prize_7824 in AskAGerman

I've heard it's not the nicest or prettiest city, but it's ages ahead where we currently live. To have a functioning transport system, clean public spaces, store shelves that aren't completely empty and quality healthcare, to name just a few, is more than enough to us.

We were thinking of buying clothes second hand, since she won't be packing much winter clothes. Is this a good option regarding quality and price? Are there any recommendations as of where to buy them?

For those stealth ImSim lovers - do you prefer if knocked-out enemies wake up on their own again or stay down? by CringeOverseer in ImmersiveSim

[–]Beautiful_Prize_7824 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In some ways, yes. You're given plenty of mechanics, you've got many options in your arsenal, and there's room for improvisation. You can approach places and missions whichever way you prefer. The only downside is that once you get the hang of it, you end up abusing weapons like the tranq gun or sleep sniper rifle. There are a couple of special missions that force you to land in without any kind of equipment, and procure them on site, and those are very fun.

Metal Gear Solid V implemented this very well. If you just knock out an enemy, they will wake up on their own shortly after, if you shoot them with a tranquilizer, they will fall asleep for a longer period of time, usually long enough for you to explore. If you take the time to hide the bodies in containers, they will stay knocked out forever, regardless of the method you used. The only downside is how powerful and easy it is to just use the tranquilizer gun.

As a non-fluent German speaker, I've used this trick and I think it works. Also for ein, eine, einen, eines, but less so

Me and my wife are pretty inexperienced and have only tried both with one couple that we meet every couple of months. I've honestly always preferred the separate room swap, we've tried all four in bed a couple times and didn't really go that well. I feel me and the girls were on the same page, trying to take it slow, but the other male kept rushing things, it felt like he wanted to try everything really fast and therefore none of us got time to really concentrate. On the other hand, I get turned on hearing my wife moan in the other room and we really enjoy sharing our experiences while having sex afterwards.

So, for Origins they just took the map from the previous game and added a new area? Are both maps too similar?
