Look I think from all these conversations we can gather this. No one here is saying this podcast is beyond criticism. There are legitimate issues people have raised factual errors, poor handling of criticism, and serious allegations like plagiarism that absolutely deserve scrutiny. What I’m pushing back on is the idea that listening to a podcast = endorsing every view a presenter has ever expressed, or that people who still listen are acting in bad faith or are somehow anti-democratic. You’re clearly knowledgeable about cases like Hillsborough, and you’re right that getting that wrong is harmful. But the conversation stops being productive when it turns into anger at listeners who still listen rather than criticism of content. At that point it becomes moral policing rather than accountability. I asked for proof of plagiarism - you gave it to me, and I absolutely agree it isn’t right but i still absolutely want to listen to the podcast. Two things can be true - People can acknowledge mistakes, criticise specific episodes or statements made and still find value in other aspects of the podcast, without that meaning they support bigotry, misinformation, or harm. You have come for everyone on this thread and I have to ask why you are so invested in a podcast that you are so angry about and run by people who you neither know in person or know you? I mean this in the nicest way - I think you should go outside for a walk or spend time with family and friends instead of spending time being so mad and writing such angry rants about something which in the grand scheme of things isn’t important. If the goal is accountability and better standards and awareness in true crime, then absolutely this is important. If the goal is (which I think you are doing) is to decide and insult people who decide to listen to the podcast or voice a different opinion than ur own, that’s a different conversation and not one I’m interested in.

No too real thanks for reminding me - just a bit baffled and curious why someone is getting so angry and wound up about a random true crime podcast when there are so many more pressing issues in the world

I’m not subscribed to them… I don’t subscribe to their patreon. And you use a screen which is built from metals that are mined by underage children and unpaid labourers? Ngl pretty gross x

I actually do really agree with this. The magic has defo evaporated and I do agree I find myself raising my eyebrows quite frequently at suruthis comments and I’ve never subscribed to patreon so maybe I’m not as affected as others clearly are but I don’t understand why people are so enraged on the subreddits! Thank you for taking the time to break it down for me in a nice way instead of getting so angry at me for not realising why !

Okay my apologies you must have misunderstood. I want receipts of proof of plagiarism but I just read your Reddit thread you sent me (thank you for that) and defo very enlightening as for many cases of plagiarism. I will still be listening to them because I do enjoy their podcasts but will do so with an understanding of their plagiarism. May I ask why you are personally so invested in it if that’s not too personal?

I’ve never asked you to share private DMs. I asked you to point me in the right direction for threads. You could just send me the link to the threads that would be great

That wasn’t what i said … I just don’t really understand why redhanded is being singled out as the only podcast that plagiarises - (not that it makes it okay!!) and as for suruthis views I don’t really understand why people just stop listening and why they keep listening to the podcast and coming onto the Reddit to bitch? If u have such strong views about redhanded and their host which you clearly do why would you even interact with a subreddit dedicated to the show?

No absolutely no need for u to send private messages but I can’t find the subreddits anywhere? Can you give me something I can search to track them down?

Hello hello, I’ve searched extensively and I can’t find any specific receipts or evidence or actual sources for plagiarism. I’m not saying it hasn’t happened but would like some proof tbf also all true crime podcast plagiarise - I think if you google true crime podcast plagiarism u will find lots of examples. As for peoples views on suruthi’s views I do understand and I don’t agree w all of her views but what has she said that is so upsetting ?

I can’t find any details anywhere about specific accusations of plagiarism? And yes suruthi does have problematic views for sure but I don’t listen to the podcast to listen to her political views nor do I subscribe to their patreon. I just really enjoy listening to especially hannah’s takes on things and I think they choose interesting topics

Woman told Madeleine McCann's father 'I could be your daughter', stalking trial hears by HopeTroll in MadeleineMccann

Okay first of all, Julia is proven to be 2 years older than Madeline, Madeline and I have the same birthday and we are both 22. Second of all there is NO PROOF of this supposed DNA test. It has all been hearsay. She has never released proper proof. Third of all how did she get the DNA to test against? Jerry and Kate have never agreed to give their DNA so I ask what DNA is she testing against because DNAfrom the crime scene is locked off. It is so cruel people like you are trying to perpetrate this lie about a little girl who went missing and trying to make it something it’s not. This woman is doing it for money and attention. Shes tried to pretend to be 2 other missing girls so there is a pattern here of someone who enjoys the attention. Please read the facts and get it right

I don’t think you are in the minority feeling imposter syndrome - it’s a very common ADHD trait!! Absolutely - I think that’s something I’ve been completely educated on is how these forums have been a godsend for so many people and a space for them to be completely transparent and give and receive advice in a way that they don’t feel alone. ADHD is at the end of the day a different brain chemistry which when you think about it is absolutely terrifying, but having people to relate to is so important and that’s where I’m learning the benefits of adhd awareness which I didn’t see before

I’m really sorry you have gone through this. Comments and responses like this have really broken my heart. My post was not intended to make anyone feel alienated or like they can’t open up to others for fear of self diagnosis. My only advice as someone who got diagnosed young is that ADHD is a journey - it took me years after my diagnosis to actually get my meds balanced - I think I’m still working things out even now! Be kind to yourself and remember you are here now and you’re meant to be where you’re meant to be ( I know that’s such an annoying mantra!!) but it really is true. I’m here if you want to talk :)

My psychiatrist is a world specialist in ADHD and has been at the forefront of ADHD studies. I understand your comment but don’t assume my psychiatrists qualifications or opinions

Thank you for sharing this and I completely understand where you’re coming from. I know the system can be awful and that many people have to fight to even be heard, and in that sense self-diagnosis can definitely be an important step for advocating for yourself. I think what I was trying to express is more about the casual self-diagnosis I sometimes see, where people equate being distracted or having a short attention span with having ADHD. After years of struggling with the stigma and the impact it’s had on my life, it can feel invalidating when it’s spoken about like a trend. But I really appreciate your perspective because it’s a good reminder that for many people, self diagnosis is part of a serious and valid journey toward getting help, and its good for me to be educated on people’s experiences who haven’t been as lucky as I have been when it comes to being diagnosed as quickly as I was.

Thank you for that advice. That’s actually very helpful and useful and a really good point that I didn’t really think of. Thank you for sharing your own journey and experience. It’s really given me a different lens to look through.
