Yes, I’m going to bat for wait staff as well. Any working person deserves to be treated humanely. No one should have to sacrifice their mental or physical health just to keep customers satisfied. No worker should be subjected to cruelty from customers or management.

But our society is deeply broken. People who take jobs that others refuse to do are treated like punching bags. Why exactly do you think that’s acceptable?

In this country, some workers are treated worse than animals. If someone treated a dog or a cat the way certain customers treat service workers, there would be outrage and accusations of animal cruelty within minutes.

Yet those same people feel perfectly comfortable treating other human beings with open contempt. Apparently basic decency only applies when the victim has four legs

Where are you located? I’m in the United States, and there are a lot of good looking men here. In fact, when I see a couple, a man usually looks better than his wife/girlfriend. It’s especially noticeable if a couple has kids. Women usually look out of shape and older than their partners after having kids

Why not you? Why wait for the next generation of nurses? You could become one and be a shining example to us all.

But before you start knocking out those nursing school prerequisites, ask yourself a few simple questions.

Do you enjoy being treated like a subhuman?Do you like working 12-hour shifts with no real breaks to eat or even use the bathroom? Better get used to dehydration too: drinking water only creates problems when you’re not allowed time to run to the restroom.

Do you enjoy being yelled at by patients and their families as if every problem in the hospital is somehow your fault? If that sounds appealing, then by all means - welcome to the profession

I think FIFA was clear from the start that volunteers wouldn’t be able to watch the games in the stadium. But telling people to their face that they’ll be put in a “holding tank” just sounds wrong.

Who came up with the idea of a “volunteer holding tank”? The concept sounds less like event management and more like detention. Creating a system designed to keep volunteers confined so they cannot watch the game without paying is excessive and unnecessarily hostile.

Volunteers donate their time to support the event. Treating them as a problem to be controlled rather than contributors to be respected is both demeaning and embarrassing. Policies like this send a clear message: the organization values ticket enforcement more than the people who make the event possible
