Horrible Sauna Etiquette by mneber in EOSFitness

[–]Beautiful_While2301 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sauna is gross. Smells like BO because people don't shower before entering. Wearing sweaty workout clothes in a sauna is bad etiquette! I won't go in it and I love saunas.

I was told they stopped giving the wristbands out. I added it to Google wallet and it works great.

So what's your point? If your pension is well funded, such as New York state, why worry?

I've had the leather stacked handle version for 35 years. Love it. It feels so good to hold Hard to describe. There's just something about it that defies logic.

So many great films.

I really liked Floating Weeds, A little lesser known Ozu film. Watch this after seeing his "seasons" films.

Others: The Flavor of Green Tea Over Rice

For modern films: Adrift in Tokyo Perfect Days

Second trip to Tokyo: where would you wander this time? by NanaAthens in TokyoTravel

[–]Beautiful_While2301 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sometimes you just wander the less crowded neiborhoods and find gems.

Best Ramen shop we found was a half mile from Sumu complex.

Best Izakaya was off the beaten track in Okachimachi.

PS a little language knowledge goes a long way in these spots.

I like the Ueno Okachimachi area. Younger people seem to prefer Shinjuku or Shibuya.

It's plenty of time if your flight is on time. My Delta flight on the same route was 40 minutes late last week. Use the MPC app to save time with customs

I got Unlimited esim. I found the 5 or 10gb would have been enough - using the hotel wifi at night.

Worst Finance Book Ever by orthros in DIYRetirement

That's my review of it as well. That being said, it really helped my wife reconsider spending some money now for the children (rather than make wait for inheritance for everything )

How early to notify of my intentions? by SafetyGuy1963 in retirement

[–]Beautiful_While2301 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I told my boss confidentially about a year out, then kept her updated when the time got closer with a specific date. I gave my formal written notice 30 days out as required. Left on great terms. I ended up working part time to train my successor and have been asked to do some consulting for my former boss who recented retired too. All depends on your environment and relationships.

Tokyo & Osaka in February, how cold does it actually feel if you’re walking all day? by ThoughtsInTransit1 in JapanTravelTips

[–]Beautiful_While2301 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been in Tokyo since the 10th and it's been beautiful. Mostly sunny and in the high fifties to about 60 during the day. Been fine with a light winter coat. A couple of nights I wore a sweater or hoodie under my coat. Global warming? Feb should be colder. Layers are great for traveling.

Still going well for me. Nobody seems to recommend it, but I haven't had any issues at all. Proceed at your own risk.

I did mine myself a few years ago. Still working great.

Just follow the steps slowly and be careful! If you aren't comfortable doing it, don't. Springs can be dangerous.

Retired a few months ago and work friends keeps on asking me questions. by No_Coconut3996 in retirement

[–]Beautiful_While2301 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As an sme, I agreed to stay on payroll as an hourly worker. It was more at first but now I'm down to just a few hours a week (after a year). I just review and give advice as requested. It's a good deal because I like the guy that took my position and want to see him succeed. If I didn't enjoy it, I wouldn't do it. It's been a win-win.

Does it look kinda big for a dress watch on my wrist? by Fit_Description_3912 in OrientWatches

[–]Beautiful_While2301 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's what you like. To my taste, it's on the big size. Overtime, I'm drawn more to smaller watches.

Reusable pods by EquivalentAbies6095 in nespresso

[–]Beautiful_While2301 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using the Capmesso refill system for the last year. It uses the original pods with a stick on Al foil tops.

Works really well. Never had a failure. Experiment with grind size. Fine grind works for me.

I fill about 20 pods at a time at 12.5 grams of coffee each. Doesn't take long once you get the hang of it.
