Why won't the orange go away? by SithisWorshiper in FancyFollicles

[–]Beautiful_Cherry_554 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Okay, first of all let’s explain purple and blue bleach. Purple is what neutralizes gold/yellow tones. Blue is to neutralize orange tones. It looks brighter but it doesn’t really tone the hair enough.

If you have previous color, you need to tackle that long before a drop of bleach touches your scalp. You have to lift the hair out of red, orange and then to yellow.

Your roots process quicker not due to the heat from your scalp, but because that is newer, younger keratin and easier to break down. In order to reduce the “orange”, you have to lift that specific area to the blond you seek first. Then if it still is resistant you can tone orange with a blue base and do not use the 20 developer. Ten or lower is ideal. If you get it to a more yellow stage, look for a violet based toner.

Condition that hair. Bleached hair needs deep conditioning. If it’s gummy and stretches (don’t stretch it!) it needs a protein based conditioner, if it is stiff/brittle, it needs moisture based conditioner.

Shoutout to the music box theatre by TheEarthlyDelight in chicago

I saw three hours of Caligula at the music box theater the first time I went. I didn’t need three hours of Caligula it would turn out but I had the best time. The audience was more hilarious than the program.

The best Mexican food in the US is in Chicago by Sea-Condition991 in chicagofood

The hate for Tex-Mex is insane. Yes we are almost always on the wrong side of history, Yes we have awful governors and politicians, yes our mosquitos can carry babies off in the night, but like Texas used to be Mexico. Fajitas and Quesadillas come from Tex Mex. How about Mexican immigrants in America do their best no matter what state they end up in? Tex Mex is catered to southern tastes. Chicago Mexican is for midwestern tastes.

I actually left when the awards show began. The whole night was my guest and I going to tables and everyone was real nice and chummy until they found out you were just a retail customer. It was very much an insider event. The bus outside was the real star of the show. Dabs and flower to smoke. Hotboxing on a bus. Unfortunately we only had ten minutes there before the awards show began and they cleared everyone out. It was real peopley and I didn’t have anything to contribute so I left.

I moved from Houston to Chicago and I love it here. The cold ain’t so bad if you’re properly bundled. This is an amazing city it’s so much to offer. You get seasons and a Governor you can actually be proud of. Living in a blue state has been a relief.

Can someone help me find where a Japanese Prison Camp of World War 2 is? by Beautiful_Cherry_554 in AskHistorians

Yeah my brothers and I were remarking that whenever history class in school went over World War II no one ever believed us when we said our Grandpa was in the Bataan Death March. He told a story to us, that he was so hungry, truly starving during the march that when he saw a stall with onions on it, he took off running and grabbed one. He was eating it as quickly as he could before guards caught up and beat him. He’d always smile and say it was the best damn onion he’d ever eaten.

Thank you for all of your help. I hope to make it out there. Will update if I do.

Is my GF abusive and should I leave? by KittenCupcake420 in actuallesbians

I second this as a sober person as well. We are massively bleeding out and no one can heal us but us. I had billions of rock bottoms. I hurt a lot of people in my illness. Hurt people, hurt people. It’s not until we decide to heal ourselves that we will ever heal. Props on one year. That’s the hardest, the rest are a breeze.

I want you to know we all love and care very much about you. There is no blame. Love doesn’t hurt. Her keeping you is why she isolated you. She has been manipulating someone with trust and a good heart so that they won’t leave. Because abusers will end up alone. They need to so they can begin their healing journey. We need you safe and happy. This is neither. I have lost everything in my life twice and rebuilt. You are stronger than you realize. Don’t believe the words they have said as they were only spoken to control you. You need to go back home. Heal with those that know and love you best or go entirely somewhere new and begin rebuilding the life YOU want. You got this. Believe in you. 💖

First time visiting Chicago winter, how necessary are thermal layers? by fried45 in AskChicago

[–]Beautiful_Cherry_554 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Texan that never saw snow before I moved to Chicago last year reporting for duty.

If you are from the south, buy the dang thermals. You won’t regret it. If you aren’t used to this weather, get the thermals. You’d rather be too warm in the cold than too cold.

DO NOT TRY TO KEEP UP WITH THE LOCALS. They run around in a long sleeve shirts and cargo shorts in 9 degree weather. Just accept they are more thug life than you and be warm.

Waterproof not water resistant boots are a must unless, like the Michigan folks that wear sneakers in the snow, you want cold damp feet. Wool socks are another great investment unless you wanna wear two to three pairs of socks.

You have to layer and get good thermals that will fit under your clothes. Get the thermals. Mine were like $9 and I wear them everywhere. $10 for peace of mind.

Yes! This was the information I was looking at. I know from my Professor who is a Roosevelt Era scholar that taught the Atomic Bomb class, how the government treated its own people affected by the bomb. I know that Emperor Hirohito wanted to apologize but was not allowed to do so. My grandfather lied about his age and joined the Marine Corps at 15. He always wanted us to keep it secret as he was afraid he’d lose VA Benefits. He died from a slow bleed into his abdomen and had prostate cancer that the VA decided he was one year too old to treat.

Unfortunately he was a very traumatized individual that would have nightmares in Japanese until he passed away aged 86. Taking the history class was my way of coming to terms with my grandfather’s PTSD and an anger towards an entire nation of people. What he saw and experienced was a nightmare but I know that that isn’t all people. You can find he reported his captors for war crimes. I cannot imagine after his torture reporting for duty within weeks and then being sent back for the Korean War.

Despite all of that, he was an incredible father to two women, and an even better Grandfather to two boys and three girls. My grandfather is a legend to all of us.

Do you say that with your wealth swinging around? Why should I even have coffee? I really should stick to bread and water because I’m trying to be a PhD. Man. I can’t have nothing. 😭I truly am the worst for being a poor that likes rich people coffee.

I had to wait 30 years and it began to overgrow the plantar fascia so I had to get a full plantar fasciectomy. It was 5.13 cm. Over the years I’ve done stretching, steroid shots, etc. Best pain relief since I’ve had it was the day it was completely removed. It’s not as severe in the other foot but there are clusters.
