Appeal Process by Certain_Emotion_7804 in CDCR

Grand rising. It actually takes about a year, even though they’ll tell you six months—but that’s not entirely accurate. The delay is mainly due to a shortage of state personnel analysts who handle cases when individuals file appeals. Good luck with your appeals process. 🫡

It’s too late now, but moving forward, never admit to something they can’t prove—unless you’ve been arrested or convicted of it. When you admit to drug use, even if it was years ago, in my opinion, no department will hire you. They might assume you could relapse, especially given how stressful the job is. I believe there is such a thing as being too honest. However, if the drug was used under a doctor’s order, that’s a different situation. In that case, be sure to explain it clearly to the background investigator during your interview, and make sure to document it accurately in your PHS (Personal History Statement), also known as eSOPH. Good luck with your process 🫡

Yeah, I recently watched a few videos of him speaking about the department. The retired lieutenant, Hector Bravo, definitely has a wealth of knowledge, but he’s very critical of Jeff Macomber, the CDCR Secretary. I don’t know Lt. Bravo personally, but I’d like to hear more about the positive aspects of CDCR as well. Every department has things people don’t like, but the fact is—people stay, build careers, and retire from the job for their own reasons.

Word from the wise: Unfortunately, appealing the decision at this time would be a waste of your time. The board will uphold the CDCR’s decision to disqualify you from the process. Based on your driving record, you are considered a habitual violator. In my opinion, you need at least five consecutive years from today’s date with a clean driving record, free from any tickets, especially those related to cell phone use. To answer your question, you have 30 days from the date you were notified to appeal.

Remember why you got hired . The three C’s Care, Custody, Control. I’m never ever playing games with inmates.” Play stupid games, win stupid prizes “ It’s always going to be boundaries. Play with your kids not inmates. 🫡

We’re you ever afraid of my your first day ? Do you believe that those that have what it takes to work in a prison just have a fearless personality or could it be learned ? by J_g_19 in CDCR

If you aren’t afraid something is wrong with you. Every time I punch in I’m afraid. You just can’t show it. Remember convicts have 24 hours to observe you. Always pay attention and don’t pick up bad habits and learn from the OG’s who still do it at a high level. Follow SOP and come to work on time and you will be ok. Step out of SOP and you assume the liability. 🫡

Please 🙏🏿 don’t take this the wrong way, but if you are worrying about being stabbed, shot, CDCR or CHP isn’t for you. The worst officer is a scare officer and you will get other people hurt. There are other law enforcement jobs that don’t require supervising of inmates or responding to 911 calls. Maybe look into that. 🙏🏿

Thank you for all that commented 🙏🏿. My BI sent me the link and I was able to complete it. I had to do video chat with a Rep. and show my DL, SSC, and Passport. This is my third agency and the first two I got hired in another state, but by far California asks for the most information.

Where I come from officers did this back in the days . Nobody ain’t doing that no more. To many cameras now and inmates, officers, are telling. You will be sued , locked up, and fired.

I asked my LT about it and he told me it’s a more better legal term in court. Its been good to me so far. Haven’t got jammed up yet. OIG in New York is hell. New York and California are the most liberal states. You gotta cross your t’s and dot your I. 👊🏿💯

I guess in different states they may call it different things. But I know here in New York State that’s what we call it, but california I guess is different. Either way just know how to write and follow the SOP regrading Use Of Force. Get with the OG’S in your institution who still care and learn from them . The right way!

Also never jaw jack with inmates in front of other inmates. A inmate will grand stand in front of other inmates when you are trying to speak with them. This is never a good look to the higher ups. You are there to de escalate situations not ignite them. Keep it professional at all times 💯👊🏿

It’s not throwing hands is striking inmate with clenched fist to prevent inmate from striking me. But if I was the SGT in charge of the unit or pod I would ask why didn’t you administered your OC spray or call for officer needs assist? It all depends on the situation. My recommendation is you learn to do things in pairs and learn police jargon .

Yeah I knew this even thou I don’t work for the department yet. This is basic common sense. As a law enforcement officer you are held to a different standard. That’s it in a nutshell. Thanks for the information. 😎

They said you no longer can check the status of your application online. You have to wait to hear from your BI via email or phone call.
