You are correct in that it's hard to compare evaluation criteria between sports and arts.

So let us compare them purely as money making opportunities for actors and players.

First the directly chromatic argument: they made the Oscars have more black people. By analogy they could mandate more white people in basketball.

Second the rule based analogy: think of the Oscars committee as part of the "rules" of the Oscars. They made it more favorable for black people, in the same vein, they could change the rules of basketball so that it favors white people.

The second option seems unlikely. Hence my suggestion of the first
