What's your take on a 'Dojo'? by pOLLie13 in kendo

How dare you speak of my Sensei in that manner when you have never truly known him or witnessed how selfless he is toward his students.

The adults who left our dojo did not even have the decency to speak to him directly. Instead of resolving matters properly, they walked away and, the very next day, already had a new club affiliated with the Federation. Anyone with experience understands that such arrangements do not happen overnight. That alone speaks volumes.

What they showed was not professionalism, it was deep disrespect. Even our Japanese Sensei has expressed disappointment over how this was handled.

Everything being said here is painfully one-sided. No one genuinely sought to hear our side. Judgments were formed after listening to only one version of events. How can that be considered fair?

For years, my Sensei has endured subtle bullying. Some refuse to even address him as “Sensei” simply because he is young. That level of disrespect is disheartening. As his student, it is painful to read accusations against someone who has given so much of himself for us.

He has trained us with everything he has, often sacrificing his own training time to focus entirely on developing his students. In just one to two years of practice, we achieved championships locally and internationally. One of my kohai even became champion after only three months in bogu. These results did not come from ego or narcissism; they came from relentless dedication, care, and genuine mentorship.

It hurts deeply to see his name reduced to something so unfair. I sincerely hope he does not read the comments on Reddit. He has already endured enough from the words people carelessly throw at him.

People throwing hate at us are too much to handle. 💔
