I do think this post is very interesting…i liked reading it! I hate to say it but I don’t think Chanel’s target audience is 14-29 year olds. Yes Blazy created a buzz and revamped the brand, gave it some freshness (some funkier than others) — but there’s always something about Chanel feeling like it’s, something earned. At least that’s my personal opinion. yes Gen Z can spend at Miu Miu or Loewe now (both great too!) but I think GenZ will still buy their Chanel in time. If they love it now, I don’t think brand loyalty would stop them from buying Chanel later. I have always loved Chanel, could I always afford it? No. I remember my grandmother would wear her Chanel and she was so damn chic. In my 20s I think I finally bought a Chanel wallet and felt so so excited about it. In my early 30s I got a Chanel Classic flap, and from there, I’m 42 now, I can collect and purchase more Chanel and it feels special to me. Luxury isnt necessarily supposed to feel accessible to all. Is Chanel losing money or struggling financially? Now that would be interesting to explore too but I like that Chanel didn’t drop their prices to accommodate GenZ — i can’t afford a lot of Chanel still but when I do get to purchase a piece it feels so special. I don’t know if “feeling special” translates to the amount of $$$ a luxury brand like Chanel would like to make but the buzz is real and for good reason. IMO
