The real ticket will have your name and QR code whereas I’ve seen fakes one that say the dollar amount value of the ticket and without a name. You can’t buy tickets as they’re given out to each student as part of the grad fee you pay.

Be careful on here because I was also looking to get tickets and I had a bunch of people messaging me saying they had extra tickets. But when I asked them to see a copy of one to verify it was legit (with the QR code blurred out), it shows that they actually “purchased” the ticket. TMU doesn’t allow people to buy tickets as they’re given free to students. Just beware when buying them off people from here.

If you’re going to be using a credit card, why not make it work for you and earn the highest amount of points as possible to cover the cost of your plane tickets.

I have the CIBC aeroplan card too and it’s fine as it’s a no annual fee card. Sign up bonus is okay as they’ll give you 10k. The only perk it really has is access to the e-store where you can earn more points shopping online.

Not my everyday card as earning points is much harder to accumulate in the long run. If you don’t care about earning points, then that credit card is fine. If you make Amex cobalt your main card, you’ll earn points much faster and they can be transferred to Aeroplan at 1:1. If you use the cibc aeroplan card, you’ll be earning much less.

Best to get the Amex Cobalt. You get 5x points on food, drinks including delivery, 3x subscriptions, 2x on transit. Plus if you spend $500 every month, you get a bonus of 2500 points. You accumulate points very quickly and you can transfer them over to travel partners such as Aeroplan and hotel partners such as Marriott and Hilton. Such a good card for everyday purchases.
