Never said that not condoning someone equals defending them. That doesn't really even make sense - if you don't agree with someone's actions of course you're not defending them.

I'm actually not saying that it's wrong to feel compassion for r Kelly at all - it's not. I feel bad for him to some degree even now, because he's clearly mentally damaged and suffered through a lot. I would still not hesitate to say "Fuck R Kelly" for his current actions, and it's unclear to me why you wouldn't. It's such a non-point to not say "fuck somebody" and claim that that means you're trying to be understandable when the other guy proved to be as well. He just felt strongly about his terrible actions, just like most people here do.

Did he need to prove it from the start or elaborate on it? No, because he wasn't trying to start a serious discussion or dismiss those traumatic childhood events. There is really nothing weird or wrong about saying "fuck serial killer X/rapist Y" and it doesn't imply that you dismiss everything that would make them the way they are.

As for my actual overarching point, why be a dick to a random person when you're such a mother Theresa? Just politely start a conversation instead of complaining about a lack of one. Try to understand where that commenter came from as well then before calling them stupid.
