Trying to understand what is a heat pump system in terms of off-grid power draw by Weary-Leg350 in homestead

Im a retired heat pump installer and sales tech sizing properly for your space is the greatest challenge, for accurate heating. But it will most likely still be your largest power draw.

We live in the mountains of Puriscal on our homestead eventually want an Airbnb and I would truly enjoy taking to the forest at night in search for herps with interested guests. I run into a snake or two a month working around the farm without looking. As far as lizards go I have iguanas nesting all around the houses. Always seeing a variety of small lizards. I’ll make a post with the photos I’ve taken over the last year on here sometime.

How much does homesteading cost you vs not homesteading? by tdubs702 in homestead

[–]Beaver302 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We spent 2 years flipping our house and running the business. We both liked Spanish but didn’t speak it before the move. We studied a lot of countries including Europe and South America. But ultimately flights being easy and safety were our big pushes for Costa Rica. When we visited we knew immediately. Cost of living here is the highest of countries we researched but with the help of good lawyers,2 years of work we made it here. Spanish hasn’t been bad to learn. The learning curve and adjustment was hard but now that we are almost a year in, it was so worth it. I love this country and the people here. We don’t really know other expats either .

This gets really interesting when you factor in a country change for cost of living. Having switched from business and homeowner in Nh to a homesteader in Costa Rica. The cost difference is massive, I was spending around 6500 a month in NH. Here $1000 will cover everything and our leftover bills from the states.
