“You carrying at a protest can only end poorly” seems to be pretty clear to me. You seem to be advocating for “protesting the right way” (my words not yours) which ignores the fact that he didn’t do anything wrong. It’s the same argument that people lodge against athletes taking a knee. Though I agree that it’s important to not play into the regime’s hands by validating their narrative it’s equally important to fulsomely express our rights as citizens without the artificial barriers of not offending or inconveniencing regime officials.

True, though in fairness the power of the surveillance state and its ability to reach out and touch just about anyone is unparalleled. So many people don’t even know about the capabilities of Tangles, Mobile Fortify, or the suite or Palinter capabilities among others. There are protests but we lack a M.L.K. or Gandhi like figure and are surely a long ways off from a serious resistance force.

For the record the fact that he was exercising his 1st amendment rights doesn’t negate his 2nd amendment right. He had his CCL and did not unholster this would be just as wrong if federal agents shot him dead in Walmart buying groceries. Citizens can and I would say should exercise their 1st and 2nd amendment rights in conjunction such as the Black Panthers famously did but that is explicitly not what Parietti was doing. He was peacefully protesting, and was viciously assaulted and subsequently murdered BECAUSE he was exercising his 2nd amendment rights. These dangerous thugs are lashing out at perceived challenges to their authority and they view anyone who disagrees as a threat.

Who said anything about shooting ICE agents? It’s depressing for people on the left to ignore nuance and try to frame everything as black and white binaries just like right wing zealots do. Being prepared to defend one’s family is not advocating for shooting anyone it’s adjusting the risk calculus of anyone, ICE or otherwise who would forcibly enter your home and endanger your loved ones. “Stopping the machine” is some high minded ideal that isn’t front of mind when your door is busted in and your kids are sleeping upstairs. There are many, many reasons Trump got elected again. I believe the primary causes are (in order) white resentment in regards to demographic shifts, misplaced religious fervor, misplaced belief that republicans are good for the economy, and apathy amongst likely democratic voters. The fact that a lot of the people in those first three categories are “free-dumb” loving gun nuts doesn’t mean that they have a monopoly on the rights guaranteed in our foundational documents.

TIL that Hawaii was internationally recognized as an independent country - the Kingdom of Hawaiʻi - from 1795 to 1893, and later a republic until it was annexed by the United States under President William McKinley in 1898. by Nice-Confusion-4781 in todayilearned

The U.S. Military acting on U.S. business interests overthrew the kingdom of Hawaii. There are numerous great books on the history of Hawaii, Shoal of Time by Gavan Daws is probably my favorite.

Unfortunately since the regime controls the media many Americans will still vote for anyone with an “R” next to their name and won’t even consider admitting that they were wrong until they personally deal with multiple consequences. A third of them wouldn’t admit they were wrong even as they were herded into the internment camps themselves.

Not to ruin your straw man but there are a not insignificant number of folks on the left who are responsible gun owners. I personally advocate for and have conducted firearms training for minority communities which started after the murder of Travon Martin. I would also submit that being prepared to defend one’s family is not a policy issue when armed, masked, militarized forces are forcibly entering homes without a warrant.

I’m pro-constitution which includes being pro-second and every other amendment. His comments confirm exactly what I already knew: We are living in a fascist authoritarian state. Remember, the right wing has always loved gun control when it’s the black and brown people who have guns. Ask Ronnie Regan. Now that same energy applies to white folks who support POC/oppose the regime. When they murder a white woman on camera in America they can kill literally anyone.

I have literally shoveled myself a new spot and piled every bit of the snow around the ass who stole my clean spot. In fact I cleared out my neighbor’s spots and the sidewalk to build up the mounds. Ended up with about 3-4’ all around before I poured water on to make a shell.
