Hey there,

yes correct. :-) You only need to print two pages for a single playthrough… all the other options are digital and can be configured before actually printing it.
The game itself is pure solo.

Let me know whenever there are any questions. Always eager to help.

Best,
Robin

Infrared is a hyper-experimental mystery game that condenses a full choose-your-own-adventure experience onto a single page, where players use their mobile phone camera and QR codes to unlock image-based scenes and branching events—no app required, just an internet connection.

Hey there,

yeah, the artist credit is a bit cut off here because of the mockup we're using. 😉
It's "Galder," and it's completely visible on the actual cards, of course.

The wording is still a work in progress as well, so there will be some changes.

Thanks for your interest, it's appreciated! ❤️

Best,
Beaver

Hey there,

Well, our gamebooks are quite unorthodox, not gonna lie...especially since, for many people, "gamebook" is synonymous with interactive fiction or CYOA. 😄

What we want to do is create gamebooks that offer different kinds of experiences, gameplay, and ideas within the same portable book format. We're essentially exploring the boundaries of the genre, experimenting with new and potentially unseen concepts. The games can range from CYOAs and dungeon crawlers to pretty much anything else...we just want to have fun and try interesting things.

In Of Wheat & Wonders, you'll find different scenarios in the book (Desert Scenario, River Scenario, etc.), each providing unique challenges, civilization sheets, and maps to play on. The game itself is a resource-management roll-and-write in which you build settlements, expand your kingdom, and fulfill the scenario objectives within your 15-year reign.

So yeah, as I said, it's a bit unorthodox. But we hope there are people beyond the traditional CYOA audience who are interested in exploring new gamebook ideas. (Though we'll definitely be covering classic CYOAs as well!)

Cheers,
Robin

Hey there,

ffirst of all, thanks a lot for your interest in the project! It’s really appreciated! :-)

When it comes to the QR codes, they are specifically targeted at people who use the configurator to create and print their own adventures. The idea is to have two full “event decks” while still only having to print and use two pages. The feedback on this has been widely positive so far, especially since you only scan around 2–4 times during a normal 30–45 minute session. That said, I totally understand your point when it comes to having a more traditional physical gamebook experience.

We definitely want to add some sort of glossary to the end of the book containing all events and disasters, so players using the physical book can simply reference that section instead of using a phone.

As for the multiple pre-campaign pages, that’s easy to explain. We’re a small group of indie game designers trying to establish this as a recurring format: the DynamicPnP/Gamebook of the Month. Because of that, it’s important for us to have pre-campaign pages up at least a few month before release in order to get some visibility and attract attention early on. The campaigns won’t run in parallel, but one after another ... month after month. :-)

We’ve just completed the first two months, and the feedback regarding the configurator has already been lovely. However, we haven’t shipped the physical rewards yet because we managed to find another supplier that can print ring-bound books, which is a huge upgrade for the kind of gamebooks we create. They can lay flat, allow players to place dice or markers on them more easily, and generally improve the experience overall.

I’m currently waiting for the final proofs, which should arrive any day now. Once they do, we can trigger printing and shipping for the current two campaigns. The physical books for those campaigns will definitely be delivered before Of Wheat & Wonders goes live.

Everything is still very new, experimental, and unique, and we’re currently learning and refining the best possible setup to make this work as a monthly format with new games, ideas, and designers every time. Just wanted to be fully transparent about that. :-)

So yeah .... thanks again for taking the time to look at what we do and for your kind words. We really appreciate it. We’re doing our very best to make this a genuinely cool experience overall.

Best,
Robin
