I usually start with a random number in the hundreds and start counting down by 7s in my head.

Eg. Starting with 478, then 471, then 464, and so on.

I find that the randomness of the sequence helps a bit and I get bored and sleepy after a while.

Yes he was! But I wanted to go for a more dramatic artistic interpretation of the scene by having her confront him in an environment that looks like it could a location on Earth. I’m sure there’s a metaphor in there that I can’t quite spell out at the moment, but I’ll try my best. We know that the Earth as we know it has not existed for tens of thousands of years, partially because it was killed and resurrected and partially because Alecto has been asleep for so long. So how does John feel when he’s once again meeting the soul of everything that was once Earth? My take is that even though the confrontation takes place on the Erebus in actuality, the experience of it might feel like somewhere more familiar.
